I’m a Celebrity… Get me out for New Year!
Where did you spend New Year’s Eve? At a family party? Down the local pub linking arms with your mates singing Auld Langsyne? Or did you jet off to a luxury location to see in the New Year with some equally rich pals?
It’s unlikely to have been the latter, but we’re about to take a look at a whole bunch stars who did just that.
Barack Obama, Hawaii
Taking what must be one of his last vacations before a gruelling campaign for re-election in 2012, the leader of the free world was spotted in Hawaii over the New Year period. The president, who was born and raised in Honolulu before being uprooted to Indonesia, regularly revisits the area and stays in the family’s oceanfront vacation compound in Kailua, Hawaii. The US’s first family were spotted on the beach tackling catches and touchdowns with their secret service bodyguards, while the president and first lady were later spotted at one of their favourite Oahu restaurants for a romantic meal.

Simon Cowell, Barbados
From the most powerful man in the Western world, to the most powerful mogul in the music world. The X Factor judge was spotted in Barbados over the New Year period. Cowell stayed at his usual £16,000-a-night villa in the exclusive five-star Sandy Lane resort before living it up with friends on a £625,000 yacht moored at St Bart’s. Never one to sit still Cowell is then said to have travelled on to Grenada and Antigua. Now that’s just showing off.

Tamara Ecclestone, Maldives and Dubai
Bernies’s beautiful heiress took a well-earned break from her filming commitments to Channel 5 reality show “Billion $$ Girl” with trips to The Maldives and Dubai over the New Year period. After a busy year of lingerie modelling, the on-going renovation of her 55 room, £45 million home, not to mention the constant strains of topping up that now legendary £200,000 handbag collection I think we all agree Tamara probably needed a holiday, or two.

Tulisa, The Maldives
It was X Factor to factor 30 for celebrity judge Tulisa Contostavios. Fresh from her winning stint on the hit show, the N-Dubz singer and her band mate boyfriend Fazer (or Richard Dawson as his mum calls him) were spotted on the Maldives island of Bodu Hithi in the North Male’ Atoll. The Coco Palm Resort offers exclusive Lagoon Villas which cost up to £1,018 per night.

Michelle Keegan and Max George, Barbados
Coronation Street head turner Michelle Keegan swapped the cobbled streets of Weatherfield for the scorching hot sands of Barbados on a recent New Year break. Boyfriend Max George of The Wanted tagged along to apply her sun lotion. They were in the region for a private concert with Rihanna and Diddy at the Sandy Lane resort, sound familiar? Yep that’s the same swanky pad Simon Cowell was staying at, do keep up!

Cindy Crawford, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Now here’s someone you don’t hear of so often anymore. The preferred poster pin-up of every guy through the 80s turned up in Cabo San Lucas with her nightclub owner husband Rande Gerbertosee in 2012. At 45-years old Cindy is still looking great on the beach.

Lucy Mecklenburgh, Caribbean
On the third of a string of holidays that took in Abu Dhabi and Egypt the TOWIE star settled on The Caribbean to spend her Christmas and New Year break. How much that famous tan has been affected throughout the three trips has not been revealed.
