Car hire in Havana is a good idea considering it is the largest city in the whole of the Caribbean and also Cuba's capital.  Havana can be divided up into three separate districts; the old town, the newer suburban area and the Vedado district. The old town is full of narrow streets and winding roads making it a little less appealing for driving although there are many places to park your hire car if you are hoping to visit the old town for evening entertainment or shopping at the local market.

Vedado is an easier place to drive friendly and is fast becoming Havana's nightlife centre as well as being home to the oldest cigar factory in the world. This is a must see for anybody travelling to Havana.

Cuba's climate is consistent throughout the year, with temperatures averaging 80 degrees in January and February and around 90 degrees in July and August. The Cuban hurricane season runs from September to November, a period to avoid. However, Havana is usually less affected when a hurricane strikes than other parts of Cuba.

If you arrange car hire for your Havana trip you'll find yourself driving alongside the famous US manufactured cars that were popular in Cuba before the Revolution in the 1960's.
