Yeovil is a traditional market town in Somerset with a long history. Paleolithic remains have been found here, as well as the remains of a Roman road and the town has an entry in the Doomsday book. It is also a great base from which to explore Somerset. If you book car hire in Yeovil you can travel around the region at your own pace.

Yeovil was an important centre for aircraft and defence in the 20th century and many historic planes can be seen at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, including Concorde. At the Yeovil Railway Centre you can ride on a steam train or even learn how to drive one yourself. The Grade-1 listed Anglican Church dates back to the 14th century and has two bells made by Thomas Bilbie in 1728.

When you visit Yeovil car hire is a good way of getting about. You can pick up a rental car at either of the two nearest airports, which are Bristol (BRS) and Bournemouth (BOH). With a car you have the flexibility to get out in the surrounding countryside and visit the local sites.

The Castle at Castle Cary was built shortly after the Norman Conquest and St Bartholomew's church in Crewkerne was originally a Saxon building, although it has been rebuilt since then. Shepton Mallett is surrounded by evidence of pre-historic activities. If you want to visit a bigger town, Taunton is a short drive away. Or why not drive out a little further and explore Dorset and the Jurassic coast and stop in Lyme Regis to search for fossils on the beach?

There is so much to see and do in Yeovil and the surrounding areas and a hire car will allow you to explore at your own rate.
