Car hire in Las Vegas is a cheap and convenient way to access the sights in the area surrounding the city, although not in the city itself as most attractions are within walking distance and also well served by public transport.

It might take you around four hours to get there, but one use of your car hire would be to visit the awesome Grand Canyon; slightly closer is the equally incredible Death Valley. Other day trips include Cottonwood Cove and onwards to the Hoover Dam; Nevada's only glacier in the Great Basin National Park; and the new age town of Sedona. You can even reach Los Angeles in around four hours, or visit the resort of Mesquite on the Nevada / Arizona border. More stunning scenery can be taken in at the Zion National Park, around two hours to the east of Las Vegas, and in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, somewhat nearer at around an hour and twenty minutes away. Alternatively you can explore the out of town shopping malls to hunt for bargains.
