Bulgaria flights, to Sofia or the resorts close to the airports of Varna, Bourgas or Plovdiv, take around four hours from the UK. At the end of your flight, you will find a fascinating country, whether you are in the capital city of Sofia, with its assortment of churches, synagogues and mosques, or exploring caves elsewhere in the country. Sofia also boasts absorbing museums - The Natural History Museum and the National Architecture Museum - and a Royal Palace, as well as the Zhensky Bazaar, an al fresco market.  The Bulgarian people are marvellously welcoming, despite facing economic and social calamity, and there is much to see and to do.

Peak Season
Flights to Bulgaria will be most costly during the summer season (June to September) when the weather is ideal for beach trips. It can get very hot during this period, and often a little crowded, so booking flights in advance is a must. The somewhat calmer month of September is the ideal month to visit the country, as autumn is its most idyllic season.

Off Season
Cheap flights to Bulgaria are most likely to be available in the winter months, except for to the ski destinations (ski season is roughly from mid-December until, possibly, April) for which areas flight prices may be higher. Price comparison remains the best way to find your flight and booking in advance is always advisable. There are many ski charters through the winter. Scheduled flights tend to operate to Sofia and Varna only.
