Calgary is one of the sunniest of all the Canadian destinations, although there are occasionally extremes of weather.  The city's attractions include the unique Eau Claire Market, which is actually a market-style mall that is filled with restaurants as well as shops and cinemas, and Prince's Island Park, where Shakespeare in the Park is performed in the summer months and the city's largest annual festivals are held.  Calgary also hosts a zoo and the Fort Calgary Historic Park, and provides plenty of music, theatre, and spectator sports. In July it hosts the famous Calgary stampede for which early booking is a must.

Flights take around ten hours direct from the UK, and flight prices will rise in the summer season and in school holidays. They are also strong during winter due to the access to ski resorts.
