Marvel at the wondrous waterfalls, brilliant lakes, pristine glaciers and fabulous knife-edge fjords where mirror-like waters reflect vertical forested slopes and distant snow-clad summits. » More Info
As your ship leapfrogs up the coast the majority of ports visited are little more than tiny fishing towns or villages perched on the edge of a scenic inlet. Popular calls include Bergen and its ancient wharves, Oslo’s curious Vigeland sculptures, the medieval towns of Stavangar and Bergen, the Viking capital of Trondheim and Tromso, gateway to the Arctic. Further north, beyond the fjords, in midsummer, you’ll cross the Arctic Circle and round the North Cape to the land of the Midnight Sun. Here you will visit the lunar landscapes of Honningsvag and the world’s northernmost town, Hammerfest, where you’ll experience the dazzling Northern Lights. Some cruise lines head even further north traversing the Norwegian Sea to the Svalbard Archipelago located deep within the Arctic Circle.
Due to the incredible landscapes that pass you by, many people who take a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords prefer to view the scenery from a private balcony which is well worth paying extra for. Many of the smaller ports require entry by tender so less agile passengers may wish to stay on board and admire the scenery from the ship.
