Cape Town is one of the most idyllic cities in South Africa. Located between a mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, the city is a melting pot of different cultures, offering the chance to experience a rich mix of music, food and theatre to the tourists who flock to the city every year.

Head south of the city to find the natural beauty of Table Mountain National Park, where you can embark on a cable car ride (which will cost around £13) to the top of Table Mountain (http://tablemountain.net/) and get a magnificent panoramic view of Cape Town and Table Bay.

The Victoria & Albert Waterfront (http://www.waterfront.co.za/Pages/Welcome.aspx) is a bustling harbour that allows you the chance to relax, do some shopping, grab a bite to eat and even take a boat trip out onto Table Bay - where you might catch a glimpse of whales and sharks. If you're feeling particularly brave, why not take to the air and try the world's highest bungee jump (http://www.faceadrenalin.com/)

Cape Town is also home to Robben Island (http://www.robben-island.org.za/), once the prison of Nelson Mandela. Ferry trips to the island, and its' museum, depart several times a day and will set you back around 200R for a day trip to this historical South African landmark.

Head west from the centre of Cape Town and take a tour of one of the famous vineyards that put the region on the map, sampling local wine and produce along the way. The region's geography mean there are opportunities to partake in a wide range of activities - from mountain biking in the neighbouring mountains to scuba diving in Table Bay.
