If you're planning a family villa holiday or a break with a group of friends, there are some things you should think about when choosing your accommodation to ensure everything runs as comfortably and as smoothly as possible...
- Guest numbers - If you're planning to sneak in a few extra guests than your villa sleeps, check that there's room first. Some companies have strict rules stating that you must not exceed the maximum occupancy levels.
- Bedrooms - Check the details of the villa thoroughly for the number of bedrooms available and whether they are twin, double, single or bunk rooms. If you fill the villa to capacity, some people could be sleeping on sofa beds in the lounge. If this is the case, you may wish to choose a villa that sleeps more people than you need to ensure that everyone has a proper bed.
- Bathrooms - The number of bathrooms and toilets are important - especially if you don't want to be queuing for the shower every morning. If a large group of you are staying together, think about how many you need and if some rooms have en-suites, decide who gets these before you arrive - to avoid any arguments.
- Communal areas - As the lounge, kitchen and bathrooms are the main areas you'll be sharing with everyone, try to find out how big the rooms are and if the lounge is large enough for you all to relax in the evening. Also, check that there are plenty of deckchairs and sun loungers in the garden so that everyone can sunbathe in comfort.
- Babies and toddlers - If you need a cot or a highchair check what amenities your villa includes. Some villa companies will provide these at no extra cost whilst others will require you to take your own.
- Book in advance - One of the most important things when booking a holiday with your family or a group of friends is to make sure you choose somewhere you're all happy with on dates that suit everyone. Therefore, remember to book as far in advance as you can. Remember, the school holiday periods tend to book up quickly.
