What to do...
As the second largest waterfall on earth, after Victoria Falls in southern Africa, you simply can't visit Niagara Falls without taking in the mighty torrent itself. There are many activities that centre around the water, including the Maid of the Mist, a spray-filled boat tour that takes you right to the basin of the American and Horseshoe Falls, so you can get drenched by the mist and dazzled by the thundering sounds... raincoats are supplied!

For a more complete picture of the area, use one of the Skyway tours that are in operation 24hrs a day. The tour begins at Niagara-on-the-lake and crosses the many vineyards of the region before providing panoramic views of the region.
The secret to Niagara Falls is that it has become a rounded destination and there is a lot more to discover than just the scenery. In particular, the area is great for nature lovers with attractions such as the Birds of the Lost Kingdom, the largest indoor aviary in the world, Botanical Delights, which is a site of horticultural excellence and the Butterfly Conservatory. The floral clock is another free attraction that was built in 1950 with more than 250 varieties of plants.
If you're looking for something more active, take in a White Water Walk or enjoy the Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours, which splash into the whitewater of Devil's Hole Rapids.
For a unique dining experience head to the 'Oh Canada Eh? Dinner Show', which features singing mounties, lumberjacks and a hockey player or two, along with many historical Canadian characters introducing you to the sounds and sights of Canada. For a more conventional meal, head to the Legends on the Niagara Clubhouse with its 19-acre lake, the TableRock Restaurant, which is right by Horseshoe Falls. The Queen Victoria Place restaurants offer more traditional pub-style food, while the Whirlpool restaurant has excellent views of the nearby golf course.
Niagara Falls offers extensive shopping with many gift shops offering unique collectibles. There are a number of golf courses within the region and day trips to Toronto and Buffalo are also popular among those who want to capture the big city atmosphere.
