Why go?

A near-perfect climate all year round mixed with an abundance of amenities and attractions make Corralejo a winner for all the family...

The most northerly resort of Fuerteventura - one of the largest of the seven Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa - Corralejo is a hotspot for wind and kite surfers who cherish the Atlantic breeze. If you've got older kids who are keen to try new sports, then one of the many surf schools in Corralejo could be just the ticket.

Younger children too will adore what the area has to offer: the immense beaches are hailed as among the biggest and best in the Canaries. Plus, there are plenty of kids' clubs to give mums and dads some time to relax under year-round sunshine.

Corralejo holidays begin after a short transfer from Fuerteventura Airport (FUE), which is only a four-hour direct flight from the UK. If you feel like visiting other places on the island, hiring a car is a cheap and easy way to get around. Car rental is inexpensive in Fuerteventura, and the road network is uncomplicated.

When it comes to dining out, you'll quickly discover that Corralejo caters for every taste and budget, with groups with children receiving a particularly warm Spanish welcome.

If you're dining on the seafront at Corralejo you'll also be able to see the neighbouring island of Lanzarote and, at night, the lights of Playa Blanca - to which a local ferry can take you for a day trip.

Accommodation in Corralejo comes in all shapes and sizes. The town has several large hotels and apartment complexes, while the surrounding area houses a wealth of private holiday villas for couples or large groups.

Holidays to Corralejo can be taken at any time of year thanks to the famous climate of the Canary Islands...

Like breaks across the rest of the Canary Islands, Corralejo holidays are blessed with year-round sunshine. Summer is hot and dry with average temperatures of around 30C, tempered by a refreshing and near-constant breeze.

But spring and autumn are perhaps more popular for family holidays in Corralejo as the average daytime temperatures range from a pleasant 20C to 25C. Even in winter, it's rare for daytime temperatures to fall below 19/20C.

Cheap holidays to Corralejo are available all year, though if you are travelling without school-age children look either side of the school holidays and you are likely to find that holiday prices are lower.

What's on?

The Canary Islands are a Spanish territory. And in Spain, there's almost always a party around the corner...

Carnival; February: This street party, with its colourful costumes, outrageous floats and all-day dancing, is without doubt the biggest annual event in Corralejo. There are games, rides for kids, and food and drink on every corner, so why not try to time your half-term break to coincide with it?

Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Carmen; July: This event lasts for around two weeks and honours the virgin of the same name. There are workshops and fun activities for the kids, as well as music and dancing.

Kite Festival; November: Fuerteventura is known as the windiest of the Canaries, so what better place to hold an annual kite festival? Cameras at the ready as the skies above the beach at Corralejo are transformed into a riot of colour.

What to do?

Corralejo can't be faulted when it comes to looking for things to do. Families, couples and groups never get bored here...

Kids & teens: Children of all ages will love Baku Water Park, which offers slides, rides and plenty of other aquatic fun.
