Tunisia starts to cool just after the summer months; however this stunning country is still a firm favourite for a hot and sunny holiday in September. With temperatures around 25°C, Tunisia may be cooling, but it is definitely not cold.

Tunisia is rich with Arabic culture and ancient history, and has even been used as a setting for Star Wars and The English Patient. There are many resorts to choose from, accompanied by some impressive beaches, perfect for anyone looking to get a little sun-kissed in September. The Canary Islands consist of seven islands and can be found around 60 miles west of Morocco. The Canaries benefit from Africa's Sub-Saharan climate, allowing visitors to enjoy temperatures of around 25°C during September, perfect for a late hot holiday.

In September, Egypt is still enjoying the summer weather, with temperatures of 27°C and virtually no rainfall. Situated in the Mediterranean Sea just south of the shores of Turkey, Cyprus would be expected to cool down straight after the summer months; however this Eurasian island enjoys pleasant temperatures from April to November, making it an ideal hot destination in September.

Cyprus's town of Paphos is well established as the destination of choice, as it accommodates the widest range of holidaymakers. It's home to a number of clean beaches and eccentric houses, which attract more and more visitors each year. Coral Bay can be found only seven miles south west from the town of Paphos, and is an ideal location for families looking for some fun activities. Coral Bay offers a 600m crescent of glistening white sands in between a pair of magnificent headlands.

Cyprus has a well flourished tourist industry, which has led to the development of many different holiday locations that can suit any budget. If you're looking for a hot holiday in September, then at 24°C and only a four and a half hour flight from Britain, Cyprus might just be for you.

If you don't fancy any of our suggestions, many of the Med resorts still offer great weather in September, although things do start to cool down towards the end of the month. Any of the Spanish Costas, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, and the Cote d'Azur in France should deliver, as well as Corsica and the resort areas of Turkey. The Greek islands are another great option and don't forget the Portuguese Algarve.
