Wimbledon, a suburb in the South West of London is undoubtedly most famous for the World Tennis Championship held at the All England Lawn Tennis Club each year in late June and early July (in 2010 the dates of the tournament are Monday 21st June - Sunday 4th July). The Wimbledon championships are the only one of the grand slam events still played on grass and attract huge crowds each year from both the UK and abroad.

If you are planning a visit to Wimbledon for the championships it's worth bearing in mind that demand will almost certainly be extremely high and if you're looking for hotels near Wimbledon, you should look and book early.
