Railcards and discounts

There are many opportunities to get discounts on full price train fares.

Children get 50% off

Children aged from 5 to 15 (inclusive) travel at half price on almost all train tickets. You may be asked to provide proof of age by the train operator though, so bring some form of ID with you if you look like you might be 16 or over.

Children under 5 travel free

Children under five can travel for free - providing they don't take up an extra seat but sit on someone's lap.
