I'd like to warn travellers about the likelihood of being robbed at Valencia's main railway station. I passed through there at the end of June 08 and had my purse stolen within five minutes of unlocking my bag and buying a metro ticket. On arrival at the Police Station found that there were a number of other people who had had items stolen from the station that day. So, BE CAREFUL with your belongings!!!!

Hi, Sorry to hear about your mum - there does seem to be a lot of petty crime in Spain. My friend had her purse stolen in Barcelona when I was with her a few years ago, and I've heard of loads of people having similar problems. In future I'm going to keep my money and debit/credit cards in a money belt so that if my purse gets stolen again - at least I'll be able to survive. Best Wishes, Shelalia
