    Re: Select Holidays

Received phone call lastnight from Select Holidays, we had been at the Good Food Show in Glasgow last weekend and entered various prize draws etc and that is how they got our details.

As mentioned before, we have to attend Duchally Country Estate by Gleneagles ( only 45 mins away for me) and listen to the 2hrs presentation and after which we get £50 of shopping vouchers and the free holiday where you only pay for airport taxes etc.

After seeing other reports on the internet ...I'm no wasting 2 hrs of my time

Select Holidays / Club La Costa ........stay clear of them

    Re: Select Holidays

I too recieved this phone call, wasn't convinced during the call but they can send my invited all they like as i will not be going to any meeting about any timeshare, call was exact same as the others a five star weeks hol in spain portugal or canaries, 18 months to take it and i could pick any holiday and go anytime, but they want to meet in person on friday, not likely that i will be going all the way to perth to get sold a time share, Thanks for posting all your advice!! Re: Select Holidays

No body gives away 5 star holidays for free. They want to sell you timeshare, did they ask if you were both between 25-65a homeowner and similar questions, have both of you to attend the 'presentation' If so it is timeshare pure and simple, whether it is dressed up as points or something else. Your 'free holiday' will never be free, there will be flight costs and administration fees and even when you are staying on their properties, they expect you to attend another presentation. If you have lots of money that you could find nothing better to do with, watching it devalue at the same speend as a car depreciates, then be my guest. For me, I wouldn't even waste my precious time going to the first meeting. Everyone you meet is on commission, they don't eat if you don't buy...............

    Re: Select Holidays

I used to work for a timeshare-selling company, and it sounds just like the way that appointments were made for our sales people to try to sell "membership" to the "holiday club" which consisted of a load of timeshare companies. My company is no longer trading, and I have not heard of Select Holidays, but it sounds similar

Something else that might help is that I have also booked flights with companies as two seperate transactions (instead of as a return journey, book as two singles). You are sometimes offered different prices to return bookings, and the journey from Europe is charged on Euros instead of pounds. Sometimes it works in your favour, sometimes not

    Hope this all helps

    Re: Select Holidays

    well said alan

firstly dont know if this used to be club select holidys and then changed to select holidays but the link below is mostly about club select holidays

if anyone is still in doubt go to

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=93192

    or

    http://forum.holidaywatchdog.com/Timeshare-&-Holiday-Clubs-Club-Select-Holidays-Thread-2641.html

and see how many people have lost their savings etc.... also many of the threads mention draws, winning etc... as alan has already said. the same pattern emerges all the time.

    regards

    jim

ps sorry supermarket.com (forum administrator) just put this link above just to show what bad comments select holidays has, hope you mind as i couldn't see any other sites with details. thanks jim

    Re: Select Holidays

No body gives away free holidays without some ulterior motive. Every single person who gave them their name 'wins' so the value of the win is not what you thought. Do you really want to give away £29.50 per person to get a voucher with so many conditions(tell us three destinations you would like to go, 5 dates you can travel and by the way we will tell you 7 days before departure where you can go, usually from an airport 200 milles away from you), you do... then fine but be prepared to write off both your time at the presenation and any money you give them

    Select Holidays

Hi. I've just had a call from a company called Select Holidays who told me I've won a 7 night break for 4 people to either Spain, Portugal or the Canary Islands as I entered a competition at a craft fair a while ago (which I did) and all I need to pay is a £29.50 admin charge per person. They have asked us to go to somewhere near Gleneagles next week for a 2 hour 'meeting'. I've read reveiws abot Club Select Holiday - is this the same company? I can't find any info on them directly which in itself causes me to think twice! I had thought that with it being at the craft fair, which is a huge yearly, well publicised event, it would have been reputable. Has anyone had any dealings with them? I don't want to travel all the way up there for some 2 hour sales pitch because I have absolutely no interest in buying anything. Can someone help???
