Re: Was give a lower grade car than booked (and paid for)

    Hello Alan,

I actually checked on the Advantage site to confirm that the car was smaller than paid for. Unfortunately at the time I picked up the car we had justy endured a 6 hour delay on top of the transatlantic flight and were very tired. The rep at the Advantage desk had been very slow, and after we had left him to get the car, he had a large queue of people all of whom were also tired and frustrated at the delays. We thought the car was small, but didn't believe they would actually give us a lower grade. We didn't confirm this until we got home and were able to research it.

I have been trying to pursue this through Argus, but they just ignore my correspondence.

My only recourse seems to be to warn others, so they don't get treated the same

I am sorry to hear of your problems, there have been a number of complaints about Advantage but you are best trying to get a result with Argus who took your money. Have you looked at other websites and checked that everyone else, Hertz, Avis and Budget for example would agree that the car you received was not the same size as the one booked?

Has Advanatge ever admitted you didn't get what you paid for, presumably you didn't complain on the spot or when you returned the car? The problem may be that fact that you signed a contract with Advantage when you picked up the car may have a term which says you are happy with the car you have recieved and they may use that to ignore your problem. If the car was much smaller than you booked, a sub compact instead of a full size it should have been obvious, what did you book and what did you get?

Was give a lower grade car than booked (and paid for)

n October 2008 we booked a car in Florida via Argus Car hire, who used the rental company Advantage. Advantage were very slow in dealing with us, and actually gave us a car of a lower grade than we had paid for. Not always easy to recogniise as you never get the model quoted - its always a "similar". Since then we have been trying to get a refund, but have been repeatedly ignore. 5 months later, still no resolution or any idea of when it will be sorted

Advice - Stay away from Argus and Advantage
