Sounds like you're looking for a Caribbean Island with an American Flag; St. John, US Virgin Islands is ideal.

English is spoken, the Dollar is used here and the weather is pleasant in Winter.

Another idea? might be - as you have 3 weeks - the cost of a round the world ticket... about £1200 each I think.

Whilst the possibiliies of that are endless, Dubai Singapore Oz Figi Hawaii LA Vegas NYC home might fit, as singapore could be just an overnight for example.

But for a beach honeymoon I doubt that you can go wrong with Barbados. Maybe island hop a bit as it's 3 weeks.

Choices choices lol :) Best wishes,

Ah..yes, the Dominican, we did actually go on a last minute break a year or two ago, and it was an experience, but certainly not a honeymoon type place!

I really like the idea of Hawaii, but you're right, we'd need to break it up maybe in the US? That could work. I'll just stick with a normal travel agent then, as it seems the Honeymoon 'specialists' really do charge a lot more.

    Thanks Alan! :-)

OK, we can foregt about the cold, you just want to relax. The South Pacific is very expensive and outside your cost structure, and generally forget about booking with a spcific 'Honeymoon' travel company, they think you won't argue about costs but if you spend too much, you will do nothing but argue for the rest of the year, which is not a good idea.

You might be able to get as far as Hawaii, you would need to go to one of the outer islands like Kauai for a get away feeling, think beaches where they filmed South Pacific and waterfalls at the beginning of Jurassic Park. But like the South Pacific it is awkward to get there, you really need to break the journey on the west coast of the US otherwise after 19 hours flying you are like a zombi. The Caribbean is a lot easier to get to and the weather is wonderful in January, you just need to avoid the cricket tours, if there are any, and probably avoid the Dominican Republic which is not what I think you might like at all

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your ideas! Well, I hate the cold.....so lovely idea Alan, but not for me really. We really did love the Maldives, warm ocean, beautiful scenery and weather...and I guess that is the kind of thing we enjoy really, lots of relaxation!

I just feel like we should try somewhere different, and also, as we're looking at going for 3 weeks, I thought about doing something a little more memorable? That's why I was thinking about the 2 destination idea. We looked at Bora Bora, but were quoted around 9 thousand pounds from a honeymoon company....I nearly had a heart attack! 5 thousand would really be top end for us right now.

So, like I said, cold isn't an option really, we like nice surroundings, relaxation, the warm, beautiful scenery, nice food!

Jamaica would probably tick a lot of boxes for you. I enjoyed it, probably wouldn't go again what with so many other caribbean islands worth a look too, but it makes a change to go somewhere so obviously different but still have driving on the same side, same 3 pin plugs on the walls, signs in English, etc etc.

    Each to their own tho'.

Presumably this is a holiday to 'do nothing' (apart from obvious...) the Caribbean is perfect in January but it is also expensive, although you ought to be able to find something at that price, unless you are looking for a five star hotel, but then you might bump into Simon Cowell which would be a fate worse than...marriage itself

Alternatively how about a safari in East Africa, again good weather and reasonable prices, but not a 'do nothing holiday' but you could spend some time on a beach around Mombassa and the follow it up with looking for wild animals, not much use of course if you hate the sight of them.

Somethimg completely different, but only if you like the cold, would be to take a suite on the Hurtigruten, the daily service that leaves Bergen every day and sails up the spectacular coast of Norway, you might even see the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights which you might have seen on the recent Joanna Lumley documentary and which can knock your socks off on a clear night.

Perhaps if you tell us your likes and dislikes, others can think of better ways of enjoying the moment!

    Honeymoon ideas.....help!!?!

    Hi,

We're getting married in January 2010, and are trying to figure out where to honeymoon! I know the obvious suggestion would be the Maldives, but we went there this February! Had I known he was going to propose so soon after....I may have not insisted we go there! :-)

Anyway, although of course it would be lovely to go back, we'd like to try somewhere different. Maybe even a twin destination? To be honest, we've only really been to Europe aside of the Maldives, so would love some suggestions. Budget-wise, we can't really afford more than 2k each?? Weddings are so expensive!!

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

    Liz
