We do require a completed incident report form and police report. However I understand the customers comments and we are refunding the damage excess.

    Hi Pete,

Thank you so much for taking an interest in my posting. It really has been the most frustrating time dealing with auto-europe. It will take me a few hours to collate all the details and present them in one package as I have sent so many e.mails to auto-europe. I will get all this together over the weekend and send them on to you.

    Thanks again,

    Tim Berman

insurance for damage excess on car hire

I used your site for car hire this summer and from your list chose auto-europe as the deal they offered included the insurance for damage excess in case of an accident. I was involved in an accident - a guy ran into the back of me in rural Italy . Totally his fault. There was no incident report form in the car so we got the guy to write his name address and sign the vehicle check form that we received at the hire check in. That was that - or so we thought. Budget car hire took $500 from my card immediately but auto-europe refuse to pay the claim because the other driver had not signed an incident report form (difficult when there wasnt one in the car) and also we had no signed police report of the accident. For a minor traffic shunt?? Worse still is that the customer care manager at auto-europe just will not speak to me, the MD refuses to acknowledge the e.mails that I send to him asking for explanations as to why they refuse to pay. In this situation their customer service has been so poor it is unbelievable. Please everyone out there, if you are thinking of hiring a car through auto-europe then dont take for granted that their insurance cover will be alright should you have the misfortune to be involved in an accident. Auto-europe are to customer service what Madonna was to honest play in football!
