    1800 hotels

As a money saving person I use this site regularly for information and to book holidays. Let all buyers beware. 1800 hotels worked from this site I booked in good faith and paid by credit card, they went bust! Surprise, surprise they are not abta or atol bonded. Also they operate in Ireland so it is unlikely my credit card will pay up, only option now is to look and see if the insurance company covers this.

Quite frankly I am appalled by the fact that companies that aren't abta or atol bonded operate from this site. There should be some security for customers who save all year for a holiday to be ripped off by these rogues or robbers as that is what they are. They take your money months before they go bankrupt and don't book the hotels but pocket the money then declare the company bankrupt. This website and the government should do something about them, prison is too good for these people!

    Re: 1800 Hotels ceasing trading

By way of further update, customers have been contacting us advising of arriving at hotels and no booking being confirmed due to non-payment by 1800 Hotels.

1800 Hotels also sourced hotel rooms via a number of third party 'bedbank' suppliers - companies such as Hotel Connect and YouTravel for example.

If you have booked with 1800 Hotels then we advise the following:

    1) Check with your booking confirmation which supplier the hotel is booked with - and contact the supplier to confirm that the booking is in place

    2) If it is not evident from your booking confirmation which supplier your booking was placed with by 1800 Hotels, contact the hotel directly to confirm that they have your booking

    3) If your transaction is over £100 and you have paid by credit card, then your credit card company may cover the cost of any reimbursement of the money you have paid. Please check your individual credit card issuer's T's & C's.

    4) There are numerous alternatives to 1800 Hotels on our website should you need to re-book with another company

I can confirm 1800 Hotels are not currently featuring on our site. We anticipate a further update during the course of the day.

    1800 Hotels ceasing trading

It has been announced in the Irish press this morning that 1800-Hotels.ie has ceased trading. The company has been conducting business selling hotel rooms online for over 5 years.

Details are currently sketchy and we are trying to find out more. There is little information on their site - they are not showing live availability although the .com site is still up, but the .ie site is down with a statement confirming bankrupcy.

    More details to follow.
