April would be a good time to visit Italy although Rome will be heaving at Easter at the end of the month. You could easily spend 3 days in Venice, visiting some of islands and then if you want the beach you could either stay on the Venice Lido which is expensive or travel an hour or so to Lido de Jessolo, a typical Italian resort stuck in the 1960's, although maybe that would remind you of Gibraltar. Within an hour of so of Venice you could visit Verona (Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou etc) Vicenze and even some of the Italian Lakes, Milan for shopping is two and a half hours by train and then spend the rest of the time in Rome and its surroundings. I would not hire a car for any part of the journey, Italian trains are excellent and some of the cheapest in Europe.

    Re: Italy 2011

I am sorry if I am confusing you. I live in Gibraltar which is a British Colony on the southern tip of Spain. That is why I have asked about Spain and Portugal because I just have to cross the border and drive.

I have asked about Italy in April and have not specified where because I do not know what the weather would be like and therefore even if I have a guide book (which I always get) I would like to have recommendations as to what places to visit considering it is not summer. I have always wanted to visit Italy as I have heard many things about it especially Venice and Rome. I am a beach person and also like the countryside so in 2 weeks what could I see.

I hope I am not inconveniencing you in any way.

    Regards

Personally I wouldn't drive in any Italian city, and you give no indications as to what you want to do, beach, country, art? You seem to ask strange questions every year, in 2008 you said you lived in southern Spain but in 2009 you aksed if their was accommodation anywhere on the beach in Spain or Portugal. Are you a student desperately trying to answer past exam questions... if you know nothing about Italy why do you want to go there? Buy a guide book or use the internet to at least decide where to travel and then ask for recommendations in the places you want to visit.

    Italy 2011

    Hi,

My husband and I are thinking of visiting Italy next April 2011 and were thinking of hiring a car and visit different cities. We are thinking of going for 2 weeks. Can you give us ideas as we have never gone to Italy and don't know were to go, stay and do.

    Thanks
