    Re: Booking Dilemma

    hello geoff

great geoff. it just goes to show that we can all find bargains just by searching the web, even it it means spending a bit longer online.

your price is great, well done. and what a difference from your 1st quote of £11,730 have a great time in orlando.

    cheers

    jim

ps.. hope you and the family are fine and i am sure everyone can't wait to go on holiday.

    Hi Jim,

first of all, many apologies for not replying to you before - have had a terrible week, involving 3 visits to the doctors and two vists to the hospital ! All ok now.

BUT - many many thanks to you from all the family for your advice above- we have now cut the total price to just over £9100, a fantastic price and all thanks to you. This is for 2 weeks in a villa and 1 week at the Disney caribbean Beach Resort .

A great result, and once again many thanks!

    kind regards

    Geoff

    Re: Booking Dilemma

    sorry geoff

found something else at the carribean beach resort.

if you were to check in as planned on the 26th and check out on the 1st of may rather than the 3rd and get your flight back on the 1st. http://www.thomson.co.uk have a deal on for 5 nights at £2810 and if you got the park tickets for 7 days starting on the 24th till the 1st from http://wdtc.disneyinternational.com the cost is £2038, making a grand total of £4848 instead of booking the hotel & ticket package with disney direct for 7 days at £5298 saving of £450.

as for the flight it would be all the same details ie.. flight times both ways. the only diff. is the return date, the 1st, price £2808, £127 more.

the villa has still the same dates and price £1394

the car hire from the site above but 2 days less hire works out at £776 with discount and a 12 seater minivan

total = 2808 + 1394 + 4848 + 776 = £9826 + seats for children. the only difference is that you would be staying at the carribean beach resort 26/4 - 1/5 and use of the car for 2 days less. you would still get use of the 7 day park ticket (starting 24th). also remember this quote is for the standad view rooms (no meal plan) less than my previous quote of £10232 and £1904 cheaper than the quote at £11730.

    regards

    Re: Booking Dilemma

    hello geoff

had a look and have a few results.

    flights with https://www.ebookers.com

dept. 12/4 heathrow 09:40 arr. minneapolis msp 12:55, dept. msp 15:25 arr. orlando int. mco 19:28

dept. 3/5 mco 12:30 arr. msp 14:57, dept msp 17:15 arr. lhr 07:30. the price for 7 + 2 is £2681 inclusive of all taxes etc...with northwest airlines. you can also get direct flights with british airways from gatwick to mco for £3440 incl. of taxes at opodo.

calabay park villa at http://www.calabay-parc-villa.com 12/4 - 26/4 is priced at £1394 with the heated pool. is this the same villa? as it says the maximum occupency is 8. you could always phone the owner in the UK, his tel. # is on the site. pherhaps you have phoned him already.

now for the most expensive part the stay at disney carribean beach resort at

http://wdtc.disneyinternational.com 26/4 - 3/5, ive got the quote with 4 bedrooms (did a search 3 x 2adults and a search with 1 adult & 2 child) the price for standard view rooms (no meal plan) with disney 7 day premium tickets for the 9 of you is £5298. you could go for the accomadation only and get a better deal on tickets elsewhere on the webb. ive saw tickets for 5 days. there is a uk telephone number to book your disney stay so that all your rooms are next to each other, last thing you want is for the 4 rooms to be on different floor or at opposite ends of a corridor.

for the car i went to http://www.travelsupermarket.com/carhire.aspx enterred the details and then re-directed to

http://www.uscarhireagency.com/carselect.php#1169 from there i picked the 4 DRS
Chevrolet Express or similar. the price for the 21 day hire with the silver cover included is £859. to get the gold cover is an extra £99 (for 3 extra drivers). also to hire a toddler/infant seat is $5 - $10 per day for each child and is payable locally at the end of your hire. just remember that when you go to the uscarhire site enter your email address so you can get a discount code at the checkout. the discount was only £27 but that can go towards your gas. oh the mini van can carry 10 adults + 3 children. all i saw was cars/vans smaller/larger for 9 people.

the price with the options i found was total = 2681 + 1394 + 5298 + 859 = £10232 + seats for children, it comes out a bit cheaper than the quote of £11730 but unfortunatly i don't know what your quote includes. i expect it has the tickets for the park along with a meal plan at the hotel and maybe has the direct flights with british airways. the only good thing is that the flights above with northwest airlines allows ample time to go thru the immigration at minneapolis and collect your bags? iam unsure whether or not you would have to collect your bags and then go to the check in desk for the flight to orlando, ive never got a connecting flight before on the same booking in the states (nthwest flights the same airline on your connecting flights) and remember the new immigration rules that came into effect this year.

sorry to bore you geoff, if you were to pick any 1 of 3 disney resort hotels,:- all star music resort or the all star sport or the disney pop century resort to stay instead of the caribean beach resort the price would be £4022 with no meal plan (standard room), if you were to add lets say the disney quick (counter) service dining plan to all of the 3 other hotels. the price for the hotel, park tickets and meal plan would be £5182 for the 9 of you a saving of £116 on the carribean beach resort price of £5298 that doesn't include any meal plan. hope this gives you some food for thought (rubbish joke i know). you can compare all the hotels facility's at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdwi/en_GB/resorts/resortComparison?tab=1&ResortCompareDropDown=resortCategoryAllPage

    Re: Booking Dilemma

thanks very much Jim, your advice makes good sense.

Our lowest quote was £11,730. this is for 21 nights ex LGW for first 14 nights in villa in Calabay Parc (5 Bedrooms), and final 7 days in Disney Caribbean Beach resort.(4 bedrooms) Departing April 12 2010. 7 adults and 2 children. The quote also included 15 seater van hire, but we could be flexible on this, as 2 cars may be more suitable.

    Hope you can help!

    thanks

    Geoff

    Re: Booking Dilemma

    hello

it's a hard one, booking early doesn't always guarantee the cheapest prices with the exception of the budget airlines. i would say book now so you can guarantee availability for a party of 7, also you can with some airlines go into your booking and select your seats now so everyones together.

if you booked later and closer to your dept. time, you may find there isn't the same availability. another thing that is that the price of crude has increased gradually over the last few months. it could mean that prices for next year may go up slightly?

    http://www.forbes.com/2009/06/04/delta-continental-airlines-personal-finance-investing-ideas-crude-oil.html

what sort of prices have you found? if you gave me your rough dates, your uk airport and your return i could have a quick look for you and get back to you in 24hrs.

    regards

    Booking Dilemma

We are a family party of 7 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 3 planning to go to Disney Florida in April 2010. Should we book now, or wait and hope for price reductions later?
