    Re: Cape Town Visit

Hi we have just returned from South Africa we were there for three weeks ,spent some time in Cape Town then spent two nights in Stellenbosch and then drove along Route 62 (the inland drive) to a game reserve near Port Elizabeth we then drove back along the coast to spend the last few days back in C Town.
We had a great time and all the accommodation was excellent , eating out is great value .
This is the second time we have visited ,we went last year and drove the garden route and then flew back from Port Elizabeth
flights are very reasonably priced and well worth doing if you don't want to do too much driving.
SouthAfrica is a really wonderful place to visit ,people are so friendly .
If you want any information about where we stayed i will be glad to provide it, we pre booked all our hotels/bb through Uyaphi.com
a S.A company have a look at their web site ,
PS last year we stayed at Kariega Game Reserve ,this year at Lalibela GR I would go back to both but Lalibela was favourite, we spent three nights at each which I think is just about the right amount of time.

    Re: Cape Town Visit

    Hi

I have travelled that route a few times and there are some excellent b&bs along the route.

If you have time do the route in both directions, one taking the inland route nearer Cape Town and one the more coastal route. Allow four to five days each way to be able to explore more fully. The Cape Town area itself is well worth a few days, as are the wineries outside of the cities. There are several safaris in the Port Elizabeth area, however you may want to consider travelling north to the areas east of Johannesburg where there are more opportunities. If you dirve the oute one way it is cheaper for car hire from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town due to one way drop of charges.

There are a range of websites that can help you plan, however you MUST book the b&bs early as they do get booked up very quickly.

    Try some of these.

Don't forget to search for you flights on travelsupermarket.com and if we can be of any further help, please ask.

    Re: Cape Town Visit

I've heard that there are some great value sea view B&Bs (or small boutique hotels) where you can stay for the fraction of the price of a hotel. I remember reading about these in The Sunday Times magazine last year, so i'm sure if you search for these on google or somewhere you'll find the article that referred to the best ones. Some even include spots for you to go whale watching.

Another thing not to be missed is going to see the penguins in Boulders Beach - it's a little touristy but they are so cute. And if you can squeeze i in, take a trip up to the wine regions. The restaurants there are amazing - and gret value too.

    Hi,

Alternatively, have a try searching for a hotel on www.travelsupermarket.com

I've never been to Cape Town, but make sure you take a cable car trip up Table Mountain.

    Cape Town Visit

    Hi,
I'm looking to go to Cape Town in October 2007 for 3 weeks and doing the Garden route to Port Elizabeth .
I'm thinking of doing some Whale watching and doing a safari (3-4 days)
Looking for nice accommodation, but it does not have to luxurious.
Their will be 2 people travelling

    Any ideas/suggestions would be welcome

    Regards
