    Re: Coveta Fuma

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm looking forward to going but as I said I am a bit of a worrier. Have seen some very negative comments in the forum about the villa rental company OPI but I'm hoping that problems like these are in the minority. I'm sure everything will be fine when we get there .

    Re: Coveta Fuma

Hi Ellie, I'll try to be of some help. I suggest you put the Calle name into Google Earth and you will see where you will stay. I did that, and it seems to be a street joining on to the Avenida Central which leads to the station - I judge a 10-15 minute walk from Calle de Jaen to the station and the supermarket. To go to the restaurants etc, you cross the railway line at the station and it is 5 minutes further. The beach is probably another couple of minutes. It is quite flat-ish around the restuarant area and may not be too bad. I have problems with walking and I made it from the apartment right next to the bay up to the station - so a healthy young woman should be okay! It is a lovely little bay (as long as they've cleared the seaweed which was a problem in October). The tram runs every 20-30 minutes depending where you want to go. Try stopping at Paradisio and the one just before Campello that I forget the name of. Hope this helps. See my previous post re taxis.

    Re: Coveta Fuma

    Hi

don't know if you will still be using this site but would be glad of any local info as my family have booked a villa in Coveta in Aug. The tram seems to be a good option for getting about as I doubt whether any of us will drive. However we have a 1 year old with us so I'm wondering exactly how far from the tram/shops our villa will be given that the area is hilly and weather likely to be very hot!.I believe the street name is Calle de Jaen -the rental company say it's a 'casual stroll' to amenities but that could mean anything. How often does the tram run? -info I've picked up said half hourly but I've also seen it said that it's hourly. I'm a bit of a worrier (!) and I've never booked a villa before -only packge holidays

    Re: Coveta Fuma

    Hi T155,

The agent of the apartment we were renting arranged for Antonio to collect us. It was useful having someone who knew the address where we would be staying but Antonio was a surly B****r who didn't even say 'Ola!' and carried on a conversation on his mobile and didn't improve on the way back. He owns the minimarket at Coveta Fuma which is very well stocked. The post office is there too. But we had to find this out; he didn't venture any local info (and it wasn't that his English was at fault).

Coveta Fuma is a lovely place, the houses and villas snuggled around a little cove *** harbour and stretches round into the next two coves. the tram station, mini-market and restaurant/bars are all in the same area by the first cove. It's quite hilly to get to most of the villas and the coves are very choked with seaweed out of season; they clear it aaway in April/May but by October it was rather awful. Despite that we did enjoy ourselves and there are a number of other beaches a few tram stops away: campello, Muchavista, venta lanuza ( especially nice little beach but steep to get to). I might go back next May if I can be sure that the seaweed has been cleared away. My friend is in charge of our photos and hasn't uploaded them yet but I will get them done in the next few weeks and indicate where they can be found.

    Re: Coveta Fuma

    Hi,

I am renting an apartment in Coveta Fuma in mid October and I'd love to see your photos. Thomas' casita sounds like heaven to me except that I do have some problems walking; do you think I might have problems walking there? What's the terrain like? I use a stick out of doors and tire easily. What does a meal out cost? What's the weather like?

I chose Coveta Fuma for all the reasons you have given and I'm so excited to be going. I shall be sitting on that little promontary reading, having tapas in the local bar, enjoying leisurely meals at Thomas', taking the train to Campello and a scenic ride to Denia. I'm only sorry that it's only a week!

Are the restaurants/bars/supermarket open on the weekend? Are they open in October? We arrive on Saturday afternoon. Actually Antonio will be picking us up from Alicante.

    Re: Coveta Fuma

    Hi,

I have owned a villa in Coveta Fuma (Smoky Cove) for 9 years and love the area. The small train runs from Denia to Alicante and stops in all the little coves including Coveta, El Campello, out local 'town' is famous for the fish from the fish market, and has miles of beautiful beaches, un spoilt, no busy road to cross. El Campello has lots of restaurants, banks and shops, wonderful fiestas. Coveta Fuma has its own small cove, sometimes in winter a bit seaweedy, but they clear it in the summer. Thomas's little casita high on the cove has the most wonderful sardines and paella and the rest of the restaurants and bars are easily reached. Antonia has a wonderfully stocked supermarket and he also runs a taxi service. My grandchildren adore the area, and the fantastic TerraMitica can be reached on the train in about 15 mins. You dont need a car here, transport is excellent. Visit the next little town Villajoyosa (Village of Joy), and dont miss the markets, fantastic!

I have many photos of the area and the harbour in El Campello if anyone would like to receive them.

Once you have visited Coveta, you will want to stay, and its just 35 mins north of Alicante airport.

    Re: Coveta Fuma

Hi, I'm sorry I can't really help you as we changed our minds and went to Portugal instead. but I have spoken to people who have been there and they said it was very nice but very quiet with only about five restaurants, and the beach is OK but not as nice as el Campello down the road. I hope this has been of some use to you. You could have a look on Google Earth this might give you an idea of the size and layout of the place. Good luck

    Hi Carol

Don't know whether you are still using this site at all, but found your questions quite interesting as we are looking at a villa in Coveta Fuma. Like you, we'd like to hear reviews from people that have actually been there.

Having now been, we would be interested in your thoughts about the place? how did you find the beach? we have a young family ranging from 2 to 5 years. Is the area hilly?

Hope you are able to give us some comments.

    Thanks

    Carol

    Hi Sarah

Thanks for the info, the place sound quite nice we're looking for somewhere that isn't too touristy but we have a seven year old son who needs occupying so as long as there's some sand for him to dig in and somewhere nice for us to eat, anything else is a bonus. Hope you enjoy your break you never know we may bump into each other, we're there from the 8th to the 19th Sept. Thanks again

    Regards Carol

    Re: Coveta Fuma

    Hi Carol

There are not a huge variety of restaurants in Coveta itself (there is a Chinese/ a small Italian/ a French restaurant/ and a small bistro which serves varies types of food). However if you drive into El Campello (10 min drive or a couple of stops on the train) you have a wide variety of places to eat and there are lots more if you are prepared to drive 20-30 mins into Alicante or Benidorm. As for the beach - its ok - a bay which is ideal is you have kids - however as the water is a bit seaweedy I tend to drive into Campello or Alicante and opt for the clearer waters. I really like Coveta - its not too touristy or busy but you can find the action if you want it. I will be going back there next month for a nice break Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim, I have looked on Google Earth but it doesn't tell you anything about the place, I will have a look on www.webtourist.net but I really would like to hear from someone who has actually been there. Thanks for your help though.

Hi Sarah, We are thinking of renting an apartment in Coveta Fuma in September, so we would really like to know about any nice restaurants in the area also what is the beach like? Anything you can tell me would be helpful really I would much rather find out about a place from a real person than a tourist info site.

    Thanks Carol

    Re: Coveta Fuma

    Hi Carol

I have been going to Coveta Fuma every year for the last 25 years as my parents have a villa there.  Its a village/small town in between Alicante and Benidorm.  On the train line, so easy to access the larger cities nearby.  What would you like to know in particular?

    Sarah
