    Re: Dubai stopover

Thanks for the response and bang up to date.

400 pounds a night is substantially over my budget no wonder you had a great time.

I think I am fairly settled on a hotel now which fits some of my criteria,

Thanks for the info on taxis as well.

    Re: Dubai stopover

Taxis in Dubai are cheap. It normally takes aroud 30 mins to get from the airport to the centre of Dubai, but it may be quicker in the middle of the night.

Having just come back from Dubai nat the weekend, I can tell you that most of the major hotels are only about two thirds full, and are discounting their room tarrifs / offering free upgrades etc.

Exchange rates for Sterling to Dirahms are about 1:5, and the rates available at the Dubai Airport or hotels are competitive.

I stayed at the AlQasr, part of the Madinat Jumeirah complex. Has its own beach, and pool both are fantastic. The hotel is top dollar, absolutely fantastic, but can be pricey - £400 per night before any dicounts.

    Good luck, and enjoy.

    Dubai stopover

We have a 3 night stopover booked in july and was wondering what tips anyone might have for a short stay. Also looking at hotels at the moment for the 6th to 9th we would prefer a sea view and balcony but always looking for Value for my pound. Are the taxis in dubai good as we would be looking to go to hotel by taxi and we land in the middle of the night (hence needing 3 nights instead of 2)
