    Hi Peter,

Thanks, that is definately the cheapest that I have seen, around £1800 for the whole family. I am just not sure if the kids could travell for 20 odd hours...

Hopefully I can find something shorter, but obviously more pricey.

    hi

thanks, I will have a look.

We are (4 of us) going all the way to Port Elizabeth... so that is a bit more pricey...

I also have to wait a bit to save. We are looking at over £3k...

Heres holding thumbs there is a major special on soon...

    Hi,

I don't know how flexible you are on dates but Qatar Airways have some good prices via Doha - £470 including taxes. Ideally travel before 12Dec outbound and inbound most of Jan. Go to www.qatarairways.com and once you've entered your dates it will display best pricing in a table. Hope this helps.

    Hi

I haven't had much luck I'm afraid! It is really annoying as we found a flight at the beginning of this month for £540 going with Olympic Airlines but we aren't able to book till beginning of next month as saving! So the flight is no longer free. Just worried the flights will be so expensive by the time we can book! I found a flight with Iberia recently also for £650 which is not too bad, if you don't mind flying indirect this is the best one at the moment. There is a web site called Benz Travel, take a look on that and you may find something. Let me know if you have any luck! The things we do to go home to the heat!

    hi Tracey,

    Have you had any luck?

It seems that this time of year is very pricey... I have found BA.com to offer about the best price, as I am also wanting to travell at the same time.

I have had prices of about £800 odd.

I hope you find something cheaper.

    Hi Tracey,

You are absolutely right; it is high season for South Africa and the earlier you book, the better. I travel to South Africa often and know from experience that the later you leave it, the more likely you are to pay more. As SA increases in popularity as a winter holiday destination, flights fill up quicker than ever before and the airlines haven't increased the number of seats in line with demand. So in summary, book now, or as soon as possible. For the best deal I would suggest going to www.travelsupermarket.com and checking out the flights pages for the best deals.

Good luck with your trip planning and enjoy home.

    Regards,

    Pete

Flight to Johannesburg in Dec 08

    Hi

I am wanting to go home (JHB) in December this year but am unable to get a flight till at least the end of this month. What I wanted to find out is whether there is any better time to book? I know it is high season and therefore booking sooner than later is best but does there tend to be any specials closer to the time? Are there any particular airline that are better as far as specials are concerned? I have never been home at that time of the year so don't know. Any info would be appreciated.
