I would recommend staying in Malaga itself. There are lots of hotels in the centre. You wont see many British tourists there, it is relatively unspoilt by tourism unlike a lot of the rest of the Costa del Sol.

I would recommend Nerja as a quiet resort. I would also recommend staying in Malaga itself though, we stayed here http://www.hoteldoncurro.com/ If you stay in Malaga, there is an old castle above the city which is well worth a visit. Sorry don´t remember the name

Hotel Balmoral in Benalmadena is good.  Nice pool and no lager louts when we've been, they have a website or cheaper to book using easy hotels on the easyjet website. We stayed last year and we're going back in 3 weeks with family (2 kids aged 3)

Hello I would also be interested in the numbers you have for direct contact. We have not long been back and its somthing i saw and never took notice of whilst we where there. (private rents that is) I had a car for the week and it was a fantastic week. We stopped in the Beach Club (Fi) We have stopped there a few times before, so know the ropes and like it.

    Regards Andy

This is the first time we have ever booked all the aspects of a hol seperate flight, hotel and car, Moneysupermarket got me the best price on car and insurance, We did in access of 500 miles so i knew we would use the fuel in the car, Which can be a bit of a trap for unsuspecting travlers in the you pay "but must" use or lose out as i call it.

Re: Good hotel recommendations for the malaga area

    hello
new to this site and may be a bit late with this reply.
try www.solmelia.com and search the torremolinos area.
you will find two sister hotels/apartment buildings right on the beach near the torremolinos/benalmadena border the area is known as la carihuela or montemar.
the hotel is "aloha puerta sol or aloha puerto sol"
    the apartments are "sol timor"
you will also find "owners" via a search who will be willing to rent directly
if you are interested i have a few numbers that i picked up on my last stay
both are within 20 minutes from airport (€20 taxi) car not required good bus and rail service (from just outside terminal!!!!)
if you are already sorted enjoy your trip
    good luck

Re: Good hotel recommendations for the malaga area

The village of Mijas - just up in the hills off the coast -is easily accessible off the motorway and is just five minutes from the major resorts. The hotel Mijas is fairly quiet, very clean and is a good four star hotel at very good prices. eg hotelopia has it for £33 for a double room. Breakfasts are good but the waiters do insist you finish breakfast by 10am!!!! That's the only drawback to a great hotel in a great location. Enjoy!!
