Re: Hertz - driver and booking name requirement

You just tried to be sneaky by ignoring what was being told to you. Use your own credit card, like it told you and not someone else's

The problem probably occured because for some reason you havent got a credit card, yes???

Dont blame the supplier if you ignore their instructions

Hertz - driver and booking name requirement

Anyone booking car hire through Hertz should be aware of a new scam to extract an additional £35 from clients upon arrival. Since Aug 09, they now insist that the name on the credit card booking must be the same as the driver name. So if someone (such as your partner) books the car hire and enters a different driver name (yours) - this creates a booking which is impossible to fulfil - and can only be cancelled and rebooked - incurring a cancellation fee of £35.
The booking is impossible to fulfill because their website allows you to enter a different driver name to the credit card name and so they cannot hire the car out to either name. Despite the fact the the car hire is prepaid and booked weeks in advance they do not alert clients of the impossible booking and pocket the £35 cancellation fee.
    Anyone else have this experience?
