    Re: Holiday ideas please!

Hey, I notice the date for this was last year now.

However this summer i went on a camping holiday in France which was great. The site itself had a lot of facilities which kept the kids busy for 2 weeks straight. The operator i went with was called French Freedom.

I wasnt too keen on the idea of "Camping" at first, however the mobile home we stayed in was up to standards.

We stayed at a sight called Chateau Des Ormes, and have booked to go to another site that french freedom go with in the Vendee region this year called Camping Acapulco.

Theres lots of facilities on site for everyone. The best factor for me was that the campsite was secure and safe, with plenty of other holiday makers for the children to befriend.

    Also, ITS CHEAP!

We love Lanzorate for a quick and easy place to get away. Not saying it's great but for a relaxing walk along the coast and see the waves breaking at night you can't beat it for value. Ideal for short breaks, we've just booked another at holidaytreats.co.uk

But the best place we've been to was last year. We went to Peru and walked up to Michu Pichu, before that walk we spend a few days in the amazon jungle. It was really a one off trip of a lifetime as we both turned 50.

We tend to go away 2 or 3 times a year mostly short bargain breaks. We book the flight and then find a place to stay, that can be anything from 5-star to salf-contained flat but we like to see a lot so don't go for resorts as such. Rome was fantastic we'll go their again but be prepared for the walking as the are lots of places to see.

Hi there, Im sorry if my info is too late for you. im arranging my family holiday for 2010 at the moment and always look for somewhere different, and I love to check out different cultures. I get rather obsessed with my research before I book anywhere much to the annoyance of my husband, but i found a website which has got access to just about every country around the world for travel and tourism and loads of other stuff. You might find this useful to save having to plough through loads of different sites http://www.needasolicitor.com/Overseas-Travel-Advice.html

Forgot to add, although fairly ordinary, Fuerteventura is really nice - we went there last October. It has lots of all inclusive resorts but that are close to other amenities too - so youre not neccessarily out in the sticks. And the beaches are amazing - some are like the caribbean. September would be a good month to go there too for the weather and its out of school hols so it shouldnt be overun with kiddies. Contact me if you need any extra info.

    Hi Sarah/miss-sparkles,

How did you get on? Where did you decide to go in the end? It's a shame no one replied to offer help and advice, but it would be lovely to hear where you've chosen to go and why.

I'm looking at Bermuda or the South of France this year for our honeymoon, but I think the Bermuda flight costs too much and it's not looking good for the Euro exchange rate - so the South of France and Bermuda both work out about as expensive as each other!

I'm also looking at the north of Scotland - there's a short flight for you! It's just a shame that you can't guarantee the weather... :)

A while back, our travelsupermarket boffins worked out some of the top destinations for value (and overall most popular):

    Best value holidays:

    1. Turkey
    2. Egypt
    3. Morocco
    4. Poland
    5. Tunisia

    Best overall holidays:

    1. Turkey
    2. Egypt
    3. Spain
    4. Balearics
    5. Canaries

    Thanks,

We would like somewhere like this but really don't know where to start looking! I'd be really grateful if anyone could throw any suggestions my way!

    Thanks for reading!

    Sarah

PS Preferably not more than 4-4.5 hour flight
