Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

First thing to say is that your dates will clash with school half terms at the end of October, so prices will be higher than they would be earlier in October. By late October Turkey which has lots of all inclusive resorts will be closing down and it may be very quiet, if that is not a problem that would be my choice for a cheap holiday. Egypt will be a lot warmer but it is a long flight for a 4 year old and who knows what state the country will be in by then? There have been lots of bargains there recently for obvious reasons. The south of Spain, around the Costa del Sol may still be warm but it can't be guaranteed, likewise Portugal can be warm right into November but all inclusive resorts are not popular there. My last suggestion would be the Canary Islands where it should be pleasantly warm in October, but if you have to travel during the last week of October, don't leave it to the last moment as Half Term weeks book well in advance

Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

Wow! I'll have a go! I'm no expert, though. Much as I've thought about it, skydiving isn't something I've...er...ever got 'round to! Can any of our other members help?

A quick Google search for Skydiving in Europe throws up a few places in Seville in Spain (near to the Costa del Sol), Castello D Empuries on the Costa Brava and the Algarve in Portugal. They're all likely to be (fairly) warm in October and they're fairly near good beaches.

I'd look at Southern Spain and Portugal, jayne - they're probably your best bet for sun, beach and skydiving!

Have a look at this website: might give you some ideas! http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Europe/index.html

    Thanks for your reply!

Can you please advise somewhere near-ish or not expensive to fly from London that has warm weather, beaches and also sky diving in October? If it's not impossible lol.

Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

    Hi jayne10,

Lanzarote in the Canary Islands has a very warm climate in October - it's much further south than the rest of Spain - which is why it takes so much longer to get there than the Balearic Islands of Minorca, Majorca and Ibiza!

The temperature in Lanzarote in October is between 23-26 degress celsius (70+ in fahrenheit) and the water temperature should still be warm (esp after a nice hot summer to heat it up!)

In terms of skydiving, Lanzarote gets high winds off the Atlantic due to its location off the coast of North West coast of Africa, so I don't think there are any skydiving centres or drop zones. Can any other forum member help or advise?

Wherever you go, if you're going skydiving, make sure your travel insurance is up to scratch and covers you!

I hope that helps. Let us know how you get on, jayne.

    Thanks,

Hi, I know this is an old post but hoping to get more information from you! I'm looking to travel to a warm place in October and Lanzarote sounds great! However, do you know if I can sky dive there? Will the weather be warm enough to swim?

    Thanks!!

Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

    Hi,
I've just had a look on our 'Bargain Hunter' on Travelsupermarket and for these dates there are flights for around £100 each to various parts of Spain, Italy or France which i think is quite reasonable for half term - Thomsonfly and Ryanair seem to have some of the best prices. If you book your hotel and flight seperately, you should only notice a price hike on your flight - the hotel price doesn't usually increase because of half term.
    Regards

Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

It sounds like the Canary Islands would suit you then. The weather is pretty much guaranteed all year round. Tenerife is the livliest island - particularly if you stay in the South of the island. Lanzarote is quieter but still has plenty of places to eat/drink and there are beaches and sightseeing trips to the volcanoes. It's easy to hire cars on all of the islands (take a look at the cost on our car hire finder as it's always cheaper to book before you go). There are some good package deals to be found - particularly at this time of year (as long as you avoid the half term price hikes). Again, take a look at our package holiday finder to see what you can find - or look at taking a flight and hotel separately -whichever suits you best.

Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

I did think about spain and canary island, just abit worried the weather could be hit or miss. I quite fancy turkey but not in the main resorts. We are looking for a relaxing holiday, places to visit if we wanted to hire a car (another town/beach etc), lively enough in the evening if we want to go out for a few drinks, watersports etc. I don't like to sit and sunbathe all day everyday and would like to see some of the area we travel to.

Re: Hot holiday detsinations in October

There are lots of places that have good weather at this time of year, depending on how far you want to travel. You can fly to southern Spain within a couple of hours - weather is usually good there but chilly in the evening. Canary Islands are popular for all year round weather, but if you fancy going further afield, you could try Dubai. Obviously there are the long-haul destinations too such as Caribbean etc. Let me know how far you want to travel and what kind of holidays you like i.e. families, romantic etc and perhaps i could recommend something more specific?
    Thanks

    Hot holiday detsinations in October

We are looking at going away mid-October and would like to know places that are guaranteed hot weather. Good temperatures would be anything around 25 degrees or over. We will be going away for a week, we like places that have more than just a beach but have a plenty of places to go in the evening.

I have never been away at this time of year so any help would be much appreciated.
