    Suncar/Decod Car Hire

    Hi

Sorry to hear that you have not got your money back as you paid by Paypal which I thought was a safe way to purchase over the internet.

For your information and interest log onto Martin Lewis's website and join the forum. There is a post from mickbell on the same subject and might be of interest and help to you.

As he mentions we all need to contact Watchdog. I have contacted them twice but perhaps they will take more interest if more people contact them.

Also as previously mentioned contact Ben Carter on ben.carter@bbc.co.uk who works for 5 Live Investigates on Radio 5 who is following up this subject.

    Regards

Re: Suncar (also trading as Decode) Car Hire

Yes the very same thing happened to me at Faro Airport the local company was called AirAuto on the voucher I had to take there, soon as he saw it he pulled a face and went "oh ooo". Decode had not been send them the money for months he was telling me, tried ringing no answer so we decide to wait until we returned to England and had to pay again for Hiring the car, with 2 kids going mad at the same time!!!

Got back and emailed them and they said a full refund would come waited 28 day nothing it was paypal I used to pay them and I paid for the hire in may and went on holiday in september so I am not covered by paypal either has to be done before 45 day!!!!

Re: Suncar (also trading as Decode) Car Hire

    MR David Genner

We arrived back from holiday in Portugal at the beginning on september, we paid Decode to hire a car in May, however when we got to the airport(Faro) they said to us that decode had not been paying them so our booking was no good, and had to pay again, tried ringing decode, but no answer????? Air Auto was the local office and they told us to contact decode on return for a refund???

Don't know what the problem is but, its the last thing we needed with 2 kids going mad, wondering what was happening.

we paid decode by paypal £179.78 in may then had to pay again Air Auto when we got there????

They did say I was getting a refund and I waited 28 days as requested and still no refund.

The website has lost the numbers to ring them on and the online chat thing does not work either!!!!

    Not happy

    Suncar/Decode Car Hire

    Hi Tanya

The Radio programme '5 Live Investigates' on Radio 5 was broadcast on Sunday at 9.30pm. It mentioned my experience and others who have been scammed by this company. You may be able to hear it through Youtube. They have asked for people who have also been scammed to contact them on goldberg.co.uk and hopefully if enough people do that they will take it further.

You only have to look on Facebook and Martin Lewis forums to see how many people are involved. If they are not put out of action they can change their name and defaud us all AGAIN!!!

Good Luck to everyone getting their money back but lets put these people out of business!

Re: Update - Suncar/Decode Car Hire

Hi, do you have a link for the article on Saturday?. I'm just thankful that I went to upgrade our car and discovered what was going on! We would of been stuck in Athens airport at 2am with a 2 and 4 year old with no transport to our villa. We are now having to pay out for another car to be available and chase after a refund from suncars or the credit card company. Hope everyone one manages to get refunds, will keep you posted on our progress. Tanya

Re: Update - Suncar/Decode Car Hire

    Tanya

    Thanks for this valuable information,

There was an article published in the Telegraph on Saturday , the more negative publicity we can achive the lower the risk of others being ripped off.

I have now received a credit from my credit card company , However , this does not stop the scam, whilst the company are able to continue to trade.

My credit card company did say they thought they had gone into liquidation , Has anyone any further updates , or know how to find out if Suncar are in liquidation

    Update - Suncar/Decode Car Hire

Hi Lionfish and Matron (and everybody who has been scammed by Suncar)

Just thought you'd like to know that I've had a message via the Martin Lewis forum that '5Live Investigates' on Radio 5 is doing an article on Car Hire rip-offs tonight at 9.30pm and Suncar is being mentioned. I spoke to them today and they say that they have had a lot of complaints about this Company and will be investigating it further as they are only mentioned briefly tonight.

So it looks as if somebody is on to them at last!

    Regards

    SUNCAR/DECODE CAR HIRE

    Hi Lionfish and Matron

Thanks for your replies and support. The good news is that I have received my money back after five months from my credit company - so hopefully most of you will also. That won't stop me trying to get these people out of business!

If you go on Martin Lewis's forum you will see many people in same position as us. WHY is nobody doing anything about this? It must amount to thousands of pounds - I hate to think what people will do if they have paid by debit card. I suppose they would have to go down the Small Claims route which is expensive and lengthy.

What's to stop these people setting up in a few months under another name and EXACTLY the same thing happening again. DO WE HAVE NO RIGHTS?

    Regards

    Lin H

Re: Update - Suncar (also trading as Decode) Car Hire

    Hi Lin H

Just read the messages about Suncar, wish I had known about this back in April when I first booked with them. like everyone else, I had to pay twice for the Car Hire. We went to Majorca on 11th September for 2 weeks and got to the car park and was told that we had to pay the full amount or no car, told the Rep from Authomer Car Hire that I had already paid, spoke to his Manager who stated he would get in touch with Decode (SunCar) and find out, then he would phone me back on the Monday, well, I'm still waiting for that phone-call and yes, they took the same amount again plus petrol and insurance.

Came home on Saturday 25th September and tried to get in touch with Suncar, which I did on the Sunday through their 24/7 Online chat, spoke to a Rudolf (no not the reindeer but might just as well had been) plus Adam, who told me it will take 28 days before they could refund the money back to me, wanted my Credit Cards details over an unsecured email site (I don't think so).

I then tried to phone Suncar but, yes, you guessed it, the phone is engaged and the 24/7 Online chat is off the air as well (what a joke). So now I am going to write a letter to my Credit Card company and include the emails and Car Hire voucher etc and try to get my money back through them.

Wish me luck and yes I will be sending an Email to Watchdog and Martin Lewis, it's about time Suncar were stopped in their tracks.

To everyone out there, Please, please contact Watchdog and Martin Lewis from Daybreak TV.

    Regards

    Lionfish.

Re: Update - Suncar (also trading as Decode) Car Hire

    Hi Matron

Thanks for your update. I too have been promised by my credit card company that I will be paid in full and they will recover the money from Suncar.

However, nobody seems to be bothered that this company is still trading . I contacted Consumer Direct who are supposed to contact British Trading Standards. They would only take notice of me when I eventually obained this Company's address - but still no feedback whatsoever.

I also urge people to get in touch with Watchdog and Martin Lewis. I am amazed that nobody seems to be interested in sorting this problem out - what about the people who did NOT pay by credit card?

PLEASE NOTE - anybody thinking of hiring a car, suncar.co.uk are still operating to many European countries. DO NOT USE.

    Regards

Re: Suncar - also trading as Decode Car Hire

    Hi Linda

I am pleased to report that my credit card company has writtent to confirm I am to be refund the full amount.

Whilst this is finacially pleasing this is not a refund from Suncar/Decode. We need to take action to stop them trading.

I urge everyone who has posted on this site to contact eithr BBC Watchdog , or as I have done today, Martin Lewis via Daybreak TV.

Lets see if we can gain enough support for some TV publicity to sham this company on national TV

Suncar - also trading as Decode Car Hire

    Hi Matron

Thanks for your reply. I have emailed Watchdog as you suggested but heard nothing from them and I too would urge more people to contact them to make the case stronger. I've also been in touch with my credit card company but am still awaiting a reply or any action. I also contacted Consumer Advice in August who pass cases on to Trading Standards and found them most unhelpful. They said they couldn't help me as I did not have an address of the company!!! If they'd have done their job a lot more people would not have been defrauded!

Like most people I have tried many times phoning Suncars but the phone hasn't been answered. However on Saturday I got through to Chris who is in a call centre in LATVIA! He gave me Suncar's London address which I have now passed on to Consumer Advice (who say it is not a bogus address). For all who have not got this address it is:- St Clements House, 27/28 Clements Lane, London, ED4N7AE.

I post daily reviews on Suncar website but funnily enough they do not put mine on!! The more people who complain the better and the sooner they are put out of business the better.

Re: Suncar (trading as Decode) Car Hire

    Hello Linda

Suncar have their own web page this is how I made my bookings. Quite an impressive web page , however it has now been reported by Tradings standards as it does not meet trading standanrds regulations for web based trading. They do not display a postal address.

I am am urging all of uws who have posted on this web site to contact BBC watchdog so as to gain enough adverse publicity to shame this company into making a response.

Whilst all of us who have made payment by credit car for bookings over £100.00 can make a claim against the credit card company . Suncar still continue to defraud the general public .
