So what better way to ease the winter blues than to plan a sunshine getaway to look forward to? Instead of shivering in your woollies at home you could be reaching for your sunglasses and basking on the beach.

November to February is an ideal time to visit, with warm temperatures and little rain. Its many beautiful islands such as Koh Samui, Phuket and Koh Lanta will reward you with picture perfect palm-fringed beaches, aqua-marine sea, and a chance to really get away from it all.

Hire a car and take a road trip across the beautiful Garden Route, take a cable car up Table Mountain for incredible views over the Cape, go whale watching, and head inland to discover fantastic wineries.
If you’re looking for a really big winter holiday, then Australia is the classic winter sun destination, where you can enjoy beaches and barbecues and bask in toasty temperatures. Whether you’re looking for outback adventures, coastal drives or city slicking, you’ll find it here. If you’re looking for a sunshine getaway for the whole family then you can’t go far wrong with the Canaries, which enjoys year-round sun. The largest of the islands, Tenerife, is one option, with its numerous family friendly resorts, great beaches, and attractions such as waterparks like Siam Park. Other options include Lanzarote with its black volcanic sands, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
Or, if you’re looking for a big family winter holiday that will be truly memorable, why not consider Florida? You can fly direct from the UK making it a convenient option for families with kids. Walt Disney World and the other theme parks here are obviously the biggest draws for families, but if you want to see more of Florida, you could even hire a car and visit the Everglades National Park and Miami.
