In need of some time out? Then read on, because we’ve found the best UK accommodation for under £100, writes Tamara Hinson.
There’s something for everyone, whether you fancy spending the night in a converted train carriage or channelling your wild side with a safari-themed getaway in the Kent wilderness.
The 11-room Pheasant Inn is ideal for fans of all things rural. It’s just a few miles away from some of England’s top racecourses (the owners own several horses themselves) and there’s been a hotel on this beautiful chunk of land since the 16th century.
The gorgeous snug, with its Chesterfield sofa and leather arm chairs, is the perfect place for a pre-dinner drink.

The owners of the beautiful Rathfinny Winery Estate in Sussex have recently opened up their stunning flint barns for overnight stays. The structures, which were built in the 1860s, were partially destroyed by a storm in 1987 but were rebuilt soon afterwards. There are 10 en-suite bedrooms, including doubles, family rooms and bunk bed rooms which sleep eight people.
It’s the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside and the barns have also understandably been a hit with wine lovers. Rathfinny produces what’s regarded as one of the UK’s top sparkling wines and guests can learn about the vineyard on a private tour.

Yes, that’s right. Wannabe mariners can now bed down in the former home of the captain of the Titanic. Stays are arranged through the homestay.com website, so you’ll be the guest of the current owner, who lives in this semi-detached property with her husband, daughter and two cats.
This surprisingly large semi has six bedrooms and a small garden at the rear, and it’s just a short walk to the beach. The building remains largely unchanged and guests will find several features dating back to 1876, when Captain Smith lived there.
Owner Anita is also a great source of information for guests wishing to find out more about the property’s famous former resident.

Keen train spotters will love this next suggestion – a four-bedroom, 19th-century railway carriage built for the London to Brighton line. The carriage, which is located on the seafront, is filled with quirky features, including first-class cabin doors and original fixtures.
A spacious terrace has been added (it’s the perfect spot for a sun downer), along with a fully-equipped kitchen.
It’s just six miles from Chichester, and local attractions include Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Cathedral.

The world’s only Beatles-themed hotel can be found in the centre of Liverpool, in a grade II-listed building which dates back to 1884. True Beatles fans should opt for the Lennon suite, with its baby grand piano and murals of the Beatles’ front man, or the McCartney suite, with its Beatles-themed artwork and views over the rooftops of Liverpool.
The hotel is filled with memorabilia and local attractions include the Cavern Walks shopping centre (home to the world’s only life-size statue of The Beatles) and the famous Cavern Club. Head to the hotel’s Live Lounge on Fridays and Saturdays for performances by some of the city’s top musicians.

Football fans have been flocking to this 133-bedroom hotel since it opened this spring. Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville are the hoteliers in question, and the building is located opposite Manchester United’s famous stadium.
Guests can sign up for match day experiences and the décor includes tasteful football-themed murals, pieces commissioned from Salford University art students and (if you look hard enough) Giggs’ Sports Personality of the Year award.
Dishes at the restaurant are influenced by both sport and Manchester itself. The menu includes a Vimto trifle, a Boss Burger and the Café Football Sausage Roll – dishes which Observer restaurant critic Jay Rayner recently described as “shockingly good”.

Who says London hotel accommodation has to break the bank? This inner-city crash pad has 138 surprisingly spacious rooms and a rather impressive history, too. The building dates back to Roman times, and some of the treasures unearthed during the hotel’s refurbishment can now be found at the Museum of London.
The capital’s best restaurants, museums and galleries are just metres away. Our favourite local attraction? The Old Operating Theatre Museum. Suddenly dinosaur skeletons and Roman ruins seem rather boring.
