While there are very few direct flights to Vienna from Newcastle Airport (NCL), there are plenty of bargain fares to compare on connecting services. British Airways, KLM and Air France are just three of the providers to take off at Newcastle and land at Vienna International Airport (VIE) via cities such as London and Paris. Flight times for indirect services range between four and six hours.

The largest airport in the North East of England, Newcastle International Airport serves nearly five million passengers each year. Located a few miles to the north of the city of Newcastle and well connected by road and rail, the airport is a handy getaway point for the region.

There is only one main departure terminal at Newcastle Airport.

Located around 20 kilometres outside of the city, Vienna Airport transfers are either fast and expensive or slower and cheap.

Your speedy but costly options are taxis (30 euros) or the City Airport Train (CAT), which takes only 16 minutes and costs 19 euros for a return ticket or 12 for a single.

More economical at 3.90 euros for a single is the S-Bahn (suburban railway) service. Transfers to the central Wien Mitte station take around 25 minutes.
