Make a date with the Pearl of the Adriatic when you book flights from Heathrow to Dubrovnik.
This historic seaside city, which is used as a filming location for TV’s ‘Game of Thrones’, is a popular short-break destination and the perfect setting for a weekend away (especially with your other half – Dubrovnik simply oozes romance).
There are no direct flights to Dubrovnik from Heathrow (LHR); look at flying direct from nearby London Gatwick or simply book a seat on one of the indirect flights from Heathrow with airlines such as Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Croatia Airlines. Connecting journeys can take from four hours between London and Dubrovnik.
Flights touch down at Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), close to the city centre.
To get to the city at your own speed, book car hire in Dubrovnik and collect your wheels at the airport. Your hotel is just a short drive away.
Taxis are in plentiful supply at the airport, with fares of around 200 Croatian kuna (£23) to the Old Town.
A cheaper alternative for smaller groups of travellers are the buses operated by Atlas, which meet all arriving flights. For 40 kuna (£4.50) per adult, you can travel as far as a taxi can take you, as traffic, including taxis, is prohibited in the Old Town.
