We compare prices from hundreds of airlines so you can find the best deal for you.
With a flair for gastronomy, an eye for fashion and a handsome face carved by 2,000 years of history, the French city of Lyon is the perfect destination for a short break.
There are no direct flights to Lyon from Stansted Airport (STN). Connecting flights will get you there in a few hours but for cheap prices and convenience, you could consider flying non-stop to Lyon from London Luton Airport (LTN; a journey time of just 90 minutes), which is only an hour by road from Stansted.
Direct flights to Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport (LYS) also take off from other UK airports, including Bristol, Birmingham and London Gatwick.
Getting to your central hotel from Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport is straightforward.
Take a taxi and pay around 50 euros (a 30-minute journey) or hop aboard the Lyon Express Tram, which is also known as the Rhônexpress. Tickets for this service cost 14.70 euros for a single or up to 25.90 for a return (tickets bought in advance are a few euros cheaper). Alternatively, buy a Lyon card and get two days of unlimited travel and a return airport transfer for 49 euros.
Rent a car at Lyon Airport and drive yourself into the city. Having your own wheels is also handy for seeing more of the undulating Rhone-Alpes region around Lyon.

Looking for flights from Stansted to Lyon? We don’t blame you. The third-largest city in France might not have the pulling power or the recognisable landmarks of Paris, but it’s allure is never in question. It might be something to do with the belt-busting prowess of its cuisine, which is noted around the world as some of the best in France.
The city’s distinct neighbourhoods ooze style and chronicle the past in the most sensational of ways. You’ll find a Roman amphitheatre and a striking basilica in Fourvière. The 6th arrondissement welcomes visitors to the sprawling hectares (and mini zoo) of Parc de la Tete d’Or. The Renaissance relics of Vieux Lyon huddle next to the Saone, just steps away from the mighty Rhone River. While the cafes and boutiques of the Presqu’ile, the peninsula, are perfect for people watching.
