Whether you come for the festivals and long, light days of summer or for warming geothermal dips and the chance to see the northern lights in winter, just come to Reykjavik. You will not regret it.
Direct flights to the Icelandic capital take off from a handful of airports around the UK. Currently, easyJet operates winter-only flights to Reykjavik from Stansted Airport (STN). The schedule of cheap flights runs between October and March and the average journey time is just over three hours.
Connecting flights to Reykjavik are available from Stansted throughout the year, though other London airports do offer cheaper and more convenient non-stop services during all four seasons.
Use TravelSupermarket to compare the best deals on price and suitability and then book your getaway to the land of ice and fire.
International flights to Iceland touch down at Keflavik International Airport (KEF), which is around 50 kilometres outside of Reykjavik. The length of the journey from airport to city and the higher-than-average prices in Iceland means that airport transfers are not cheap.
Car hire is one of the best-value options when it comes from getting from A to B. The ease of getting around and the sheer number of sights outside of Reykjavik make it worthwhile. See our car hire in Iceland page for more information.
To take a taxi to your Reykjavik hotel will cost around 13,000-18,000 krona (£80-100).
Door-to-door convenience is still on offer with airport shuttle services, who will take you to your hotel for a little extra. These services cost around 2,800 krona (£18), compared to 2,100 krona (£13) for a drop off at a central point. Check how close your hotel is to the drop-off locations used by Gray Line and Flybus as Reykjavik city centre is compact and you might not have far to walk.
Book flights from Stansted to Reykjavik and then organise the perfect place to stay. Visit our hotels in Reykjavik page for advice on where to stay and to compare a wide range of accommodation deals. Just one way we help you to Travel Super.
