As the sun climbs into the morning sky over the Indian Ocean, you'll see the rainbow of reasons why you booked flights to Malindi: aquamarine waters; sands as white as snow; azure skies; and emerald-green palm trees that sway in the breeze.
Yes, this is beach paradise in the east African nation of Kenya...
Located two hours north of Mombasa on the renowned tropical coastline of Kenya, Malindi has been attracting travellers for many years. The resort enjoys a peaceful air, with days spent quietly dozing on the beaches or floating on the gentle waves and evenings that drift into night via the way of a candle-lit meal and a few drinks.
Active types can scratch their itchy feet on trips to nearby nature reserves to spot native wildlife or on journeys underneath the waves to explore some of Africa's finest diving and snorkelling sites. There are also ancient attractions, such as the lost town of Gedi, that are worth exploring.
With fairly constant daytime temperatures of around 30C throughout the year, Malindi is a great location for sun worshippers. Just watch out for higher rainfall between the months of April and July.
