Like the rest of the Caribbean, Barbados basks in balmy weather throughout the year. Hurricane season officially runs from June to November – although the last time that a hurricane scored a direct hit on the island was 1955. Peak tourist season is December to mid-April, with January and February the most popular times to visit.

The hottest time of the year is mid-April through to mid-October. Storms can occasionally batter the island over the summer, so opt for early spring to enjoy sizzling temperatures along with a minimal chance of rain.
March has the lowest rainfall of any month, making this the best time to visit Barbados for a beach holiday. Bear in mind, though, that consecutive days of rain are unusual and the average daily sunshine quota barely changes throughout the year, making Barbados a year-round beach destination.
If you want to combine some beach action with seeing the island, the best time to visit is during the cooler winter months. Daytime temperatures in January and February hover around 26C – hot enough to relax by the ocean, but cool enough for exploring as well. This coincides with peak tourist season, so be prepared for queues at the major attractions.
Barbadians certainly know how to let their hair down. The island has a year-round festival line-up, but the best time to go for world-class events is between April and November. Visit in summer for the Crop Over Festival, which brings a succession of parades and carnivals to Barbados’s streets from May through to August.
The Food, Wine and Rum Festival in November is another gem, while April is enlivened by the Reggae Festival and the Oistins Fish Festival. There are a few fun events to enjoy during winter too including the Holetown Festival in February.
Many hotels and attractions slash their prices by up to 50% during the summer, when the prospect of humidity and stormy weather deters sun-seeking tourists. This can actually be the best time to visit Barbados, thanks to the great deals and lack of crowds.
Average hotel prices are at their lowest in May despite the fact that the worst weather tends to hit in late summer and early autumn, making late spring the best time to go to Barbados for wallet-friendly prices.
