If you are looking for a luxurious place to stay, a world-class beach, warm seas, and very little else, then holidays in Cayo Coco are for you.

This sumptuously quiet part of the Caribbean is fairly isolated from Cuba, giving it a unique identity. Indeed, it wasn't until recent times that a man-made causeway - some 27 km long - was created to connect the dreamy islands to the mainland.

It is worth keeping an eye out for the busy restaurants, though. Cuban food is often criticised as being bland but if you see where the discerning locals like to tuck in, then you'll know where the best grub is. Obviously, seafood is going to be a speciality in the Jardines del Rey, but meat lovers will adore the exquisite, slow-baked pork dishes. As many Cayo Coco holidays are sold as all-inclusive, it's worth heading out of your hotel to see what is on offer locally.
