Tour de France; July: Enthusiasm for this legendary bike race shows no signs of abating. It has ended on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris since the 1970s, but the course winds through thousands of kilometres of French countryside along the way. Line up along the course and join other spectators to watch the drama unfold.
Worldwide Festival; July: Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, set in the lovely port town of Sète, is going from strength to strength. Revellers descend for performances from the likes of Flying Lotus, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jamie xx and more. Performances take place at locations around the town.
Bastille Day; July 14: France celebrates the storming of the Bastille prison, a watershed moment during the French Revolution. Expect everything from local fêtes and street parties, to a military parade on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
