Culture Night, August: The city’s biggest annual party, this all-dayer (ignore the name!) sees municipal spaces – gardens, squares, museums – host concerts and art shows. Temporary sculptures appear, as do street art and installations, before fireworks round things off. The best bit? Everything’s free.
Iceland Airwaves; November: Narrowly edging out Sónar and Secret Solstice as the city’s best music festival, Airwaves prides itself on breaking hitherto-unknown international superstars. The myriad venues include cocktail bars and coffee shops.
