Sa Sartiglia; February: One of Sardinia’s most exciting events, this island-wide carnival is at its most flamboyant in the town of Oristano in the west of Sardinia.
Easter; March/April: There’s no question about what to do in Sardinia over Easter. The Catholic country celebrates this important event in the religious calendar with reverence and fervour. Costumed processions, street theatre and street parties often accompany the ecumenical festivities.
S’Ardia Horse Race; July: This bareback horse race in Sedilo, central Sardinia, is a thrilling, testosterone-fuelled and often rather dangerous (for the competitors) race around the village church.
