The cosmopolitan Balearic island of Majorca is our most-searched summer destination from the UK, closely followed by Tenerife in the Canaries. Like your trusty go-to pals, these two are firm favourites for summer holidays delivering quality value for money holidays across all budgets and holiday types.
In addition, within the top 20 most-searched destinations are Ibiza, Menorca, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

The combined number of Greek islands and mainland destinations ensure that this economically-troubled country is the second most-searched country on the TravelSupermarket site for summer holidays. The islands of Crete, Corfu and Zante are the frontrunners followed by Rhodes, Kos, Santorini, Mykonos and Kefalonia. Athens is also popular, not only for short breaks but as a base for longer summer getaways.

The third most-searched-for country for a summer break is the United States of America, dominated by holidaymakers comparing deals to Florida (Orlando, Tampa Bay and Miami) as well as trips to New York and Las Vegas. And eager beavers know that planning and comparing your 2016 holiday early ensures you can book in advance and spread the cost of your trip, eliminating stress later on.
Just missing out on the bronze position, Portugal - and in particular the southern Portuguese coast of the Algarve - is our fourth most-searched destination. It’s reliable, great value and an area that gets a lot of repeat visits every year from satisfied holidaymakers.

Country number five is suave Italy with city breaks and longer trips based around the main cities of Rome, Venice and Florence dominating along with trips to the northern lakes including Lake Como and the costal resorts of the Amalfi Coast including Sorrento.
Next up is our closest Continental chum, France. With holiday searches to Disneyland Paris as well as the capital itself being popular, along with sun-drenched trips to the Cote d’Azur around Nice, the country offers all manner of holidays from self-drive to rail and, of course, fly packages into the many destinations on offer.

The Mediterranean resorts on the Turkish coast, along with city breaks to Istanbul, propel Turkey into seventh place for the most-searched location for a summer holiday. Dalaman, Antalya, Bodrum and Izmir all act as the hot-spots for holiday arrivals to the many and varied resorts.
