Glitzy, glamorous and far from tacky, there are all kinds of hotels in Costa Adeje, each catering for a different type of traveller.
On Playa del Duque, easily the island’s most exclusive beach, you’ll find a seductive string of top-notch restaurants, chic cocktails bars and heavily-cushioned sun-loungers. The area is ideal for ramping up the romance and there are plenty of decadent private villas in Costa Adeje.
If you’re really looking to splurge in the sunshine, stay at the positively palatial Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque Resort, a jaw-dropping five-star resort with direct access to golden sand imported especially from Saharan dunes. Now that’s service.
Around the headland, Playa Fañabé is slightly less costly but beautiful in its own right, with sun-kissed sands giving way to turquoise waves. The accommodation here ranges from ultra-luxurious hotels to upmarket village-style family resorts, guaranteeing an eclectic crowd.
One of the best hotels in Costa Adeje, the five-star Hotel Jardines de Nivaria, sits right opposite the beach, with botanical gardens, man-made waterfalls and a whole lot more. You’ll find a handful of other boutique resorts in the area, each one built specifically for beachy romance.
For families, Costa Adeje villas and resorts can provide a true home-from-home. One of the best bets for family fun is the area around Playa del Bobo, a peaceful sandy beach just a stone’s throw from Playa del Duque. Here, and indeed along the rest of the coast, you’ll find a scattering of great family-friendly resorts where the staff welcome kids with open arms.
If you’re after the ultimate family experience, head for the Hotel Suite Villa Maria on the edge of the Costa Adeje golf course. The sunset views over to La Gomera are gorgeous, the kids get their own mini-golf course and the pool bar is the perfect spot for some much-needed parental chilling.
A little further along the coast on the way to the fishing village of La Caleta, there are a couple high-end hotels dotted along the oceanfront. Still only a few minutes from Playa del Duque, this is the ideal place for travellers craving some pure peace and quiet.
With easy access into the thick of things, it gives you the choice to stay tucked away or get involved in the action.
The extravagant Hotel Sheraton La Caleta takes the biscuit, with views over to La Gomera, three inviting swimming pools and an à la carte Japanese restaurant.
