Swing to the rhythm of sultry Memphis when you holiday in the mid-south state of Tennessee, in the diverse and exciting United States of America.
Of course, Memphis is about so much more than the King of Rock and Roll. Music from every genre is celebrated here, including a huge nod to the Blues, which was born in the city. The music plays on, and you can step into any Memphis bar or music venue of an evening and dance the night away.
When you've shaken off the effects of the night before, days can be spent touring historic attractions associated with the music industry, such as Graceland, Beale Street and Sun Studio. Or, if your head can't take the beat, visit one of the city's other great attractions, such as the zoo or one of the fascinating museums. Maybe simply lounging alongside the Mississippi River in the miles and miles of public parkland will see your cares drifting away with the flow of the water?

There is a great range of hotels in Memphis to choose from...
Budget hotels and motels dominate the street scene on the roads in and out of the city, though you can find cheap hotels in Memphis just about anywhere, with an excellent variety of mid-range accommodation also peppering the entire city.
To make the most of your time in Memphis, however (and to avoid driving or using public transport to get anywhere), the best place to stay is in the Downtown district. Here you are within a reasonable walking distance of many of the sights and you can book Memphis hotels of every variety, from good-value chain accommodation to stand-out luxury hotels that epitomise southern hospitality and old-time grandeur.
The only exception to the Downtown rule is Graceland, which is a 20-minute drive south of the city. If you insist on being close to the Elvis Presley estate you can book hotels in the vicinity, but you might be stuck for great places to eat, drink and recount your daytime memories of Memphis of an evening. Car hire is available if you just want to pay Graceland a visit but stay in the city centre.
Big brands are easily found across the city, from traditional hotels to motels. Check out offerings from Best Western, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, La Quinta, Marriott, Super8, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, DoubleTree, Days Inn, Econo Lodge and Comfort Inn.
