Get in the driving seat, booker of low-cost Bristol car hire, and see the city your way…
Sat on the River Avon, Bristol has a wealth of attractions that are ripe for discovery. If you book car hire, Bristol can be explored at your leisure and with ease. Public transport is good, but distances between the main attractions can be lengthy and having your own car makes sightseeing a breeze not a bother.
So what is there to see? Well, Bristol is an historic city packed with impressive buildings. Sights include excellent museums and galleries, a bustling harbour, and a range of architectural styles – including the imposing but very beautiful cathedral, which dates from 1148.
Queen Square is one of the most iconic sights in Bristol, made up of elegant Georgian architecture and surrounded by parkland and quaint cobbled streets.
As one of the most famous of Bristol’s symbols, the Clifton Suspension Bridge is another not-to-be-missed sight. It has framed the landscape for nearly 150 years, and was the first major commission for iconic engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Other sights include Pero’s Bridge, SS Great Britain and St Mary Redcliffe Church, which combine to show that Bristol is a fascinating modern city that is also very much in tune with its past.
Don’t miss the huge art project, called See No Evil, on Nelson Street, which has transformed a row of bleak buildings. The elusive Banksy daubed some of the paint. In fact, Banksy’s works pepper Bristol’s urban landscape, as the city was the artist’s earliest canvas.
Bristol appeals to all: children love the charming zoo with its array of animals, while shopaholics enjoy the many prime shopping locations.
You can also have a great day out on the vast green spaces of Clifton Down and Durdham Down, which feature stunning views of the Severn Estuary, Avon Gorge, North Somerset and South Wales, plus plenty of opportunities to fly kites and picnic.

Helping you to Travel Super to Bristol: it’s what we do.
When the open road calls, be sure to answer…
Bristol sits at the meeting point of many a motorway, which makes getting out of the city a doddle. Within just 40 minutes you can get to historic, beautiful Bath – a place where Jane Austen strolled amid Regency splendour and (some years before!) the Romans soaked in soothing, hot waters.
Rambling to the north of Bath and all the way up to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, are the bucolic panoramas of the Cotswolds. Even Stratford is just 90 minutes by road from Bristol, which gives you an idea of how easy it is to access the country pubs, charming towns and rolling meadows of this rural idyll.
Heading off in other directions from Bristol, it’s a 40-minute drive to Cheddar Gorge in the Mendip Hills, 40 minutes to the beaches of Weston-Super-Mare, and just under an hour (and across the Severn Bridge) to the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
