Popular stopover locations between the UK and Sydney include Dubai, Dallas, Beijing and Singapore.

You will have to include a stop on your journey to Sydney, as there’s no other option. You can, however, make savings if you choose a route that has more than one stop. Whether this is worth it or not depends on your circumstances and priorities, but as the journey is already long, it’s worth keeping in mind that a trip with multiple stops will take well over a day.

• Dubai: Flying to Dubai will take around seven hours, and you’ll then have a flight of around 13 hours 50 minutes afterwards. Breaking the journey in Dubai and having a few nights in a hotel here can make the trip easier – and there’s plenty to explore in this futuristic megacity.
• Singapore: The first leg of a journey via Singapore will take around 13 hours, while the second leg will take around seven hours 40 minutes. Again, this is a good place to take some time out for a holiday-before-a-holiday, treating yourself to a night in one of the lavish hotels that Singapore is renowned for.

Sydney is Australia’s largest city, and among its many different neighbourhoods there’s accommodation to suit everyone.
