With so much to see and do in this Scandinavian beauty, it makes sense to book car hire in Norway. The stuff of bucket lists, Norway is often visited during a once-in-a-lifetime holiday – so make the most of your time here while doing things at your own pace.
Language: Norwegian | Currency: Krone | Avg. Flight time: 2 hrs 3 mins
From the bustling cities of the south to the desolate peaks of the north, Norway never fails to put on a spectacular show...
Snaking up the western edge of northern Europe, Norway is a mystical place with a history shaped by Vikings and a landscape crafted by the Ice Age. It’s a place where the sky dances during winter as the Northern Lights draw gasps and sometimes tears from trembling onlookers. It’s a place where the word “dramatic” really does describe the vistas of glaciers and fjords. It’s a place that millions of visitors flock to every year and for every one of them there are at least two others just itching to go.
While you might not consider Norway car rental if you are only planning a swift city break, it can pay to have a vehicle to make your way to and from the airport and to get around with ease as taxi costs can mount up. For longer stays and touring holidays, Norway car hire is an essential component of your trip if you want to see the sights in the comfort of your own vehicle and at a pace that suits you.
Pre-booking car rental is the best way to secure a great deal. You can collect your vehicle at a range of handy locations across Norway, from the airports to locations in downtown areas. TravelSupermarket compares prices and shows you a range of deals. Simply tell us when and where and we’ll do the hard work for you.
Pack your sense of adventure when you take off for Norway – now is not the time to shy away from something new...
It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for adrenaline-fuelled escapades in the snow or you simply fancy a peaceful cruise along the fjords, being open to new experiences is the best way to approach your Norwegian exploration. Try a little fermented salmon (gravlax), washed down with a shot of aquavit; go where the only prints in the snow are those of your sled-pulling huskies; stay up all night in summer with the sun, or all night in winter to catch the aurora borealis; or jump into a hot Jacuzzi next to the cold waters of a fjord. Norway is sure to push you out of your comfort zone in the most unforgettable ways.
In the south-east you’ll find the capital of Oslo. Even in this buzzing metropolis the lure of the great outdoors calls. Also in the south is the city of Kristiansand, which hosts many music festivals throughout the year. Moving over to the west coast, Stavanger begins to reveal more in the way of those postcard images of soaring mountains and deep fjords. It is famed for the Prekestolen, or Pulpit Rock, that hangs above the Lysefjord. Further up this magnificently splintered coast you’ll discover destinations such as Bergen, Alesund and Trondheim, each with unique urban charms.
While much of the fragmented land on the west coast is accessible only by boat, there is an excellent network of roads that link up the major cities and towns. The Atlantic Road is a small part of this network and has often been described as one of the best drives on the planet. Running for eight kilometres between Kristiansund and Molde, this nail-biting road appears to leap across waters, winding its way through the unforgiving terrain. It is yet another image of Norway that will be forever etched on the minds of those lucky enough to visit.
