Stylish stay near the city? Check. A cheap and cheerful beach break? Check. Luxury getaway in a lush forest? Check. Portugal’s resort towns have all the bases covered for a dreamy all-inclusive holiday.
Albufeira
With plenty of affordable all-inclusive accommodation and a legendary nightlife scene, Albufeira is the place to be for a bargain beachside break. Take your pick of resorts with water parks, spas, private beaches and all-day entertainment, and holiday against the sensational backdrop of the city’s coastal cliffs.
Olhos de Agua
For a more serene stay in the Algarve, book a break in Olhos de Agua. With jam-packed resorts, bars and cafes surrounding its quaint fishing cove, this is a perfect spot for people-watching by day and all-inclusive indulgence by night.
Madeira
Stay at a resort carved into a rock face or book a room just steps from the sand on the beautiful island of Madeira for an all-inclusive holiday to remember. Swim in ocean-view pools, soak in Turkish baths and top up your tan on exclusive stretches of sand – all without leaving your resort.
Tavira
Book a base in Tavira to explore ethereal lagoons, sunbathe next to flamingos on the enormous beach, and take a kayak tour of the awe-inspiring Parque Natural da Ria Formosa. Beach clubs, hammam treatments and cocktail terraces await back at your all-inclusive resort.
1 / 2
The beauty of Portugal’s long coastline is that you’re never too far from a beautiful beach. And along the almost 600-mile (966km) shoreline sit wild bays and cut-off coves, as well as chunky stretches of sand lined with sun-loungers.
There’s a beach in Albufeira for everyone, from the tranquillity of Praia de Manuel Lourenço to the thumping nightlife of Praia da Oura. If you prefer your sands a little more exclusive, book into an all-inclusive resort with a private beach (and a pool bar, spa and nightclub for good measure).
Elsewhere, Tavira’s position near the Spanish border makes for warmer waters than you might find on Portugal’s Atlantic west coast. And when you’re not at the beach, there’s plenty to do on dry land, too. Take your pick of all-inclusive resorts with golf courses, tennis courts, thermal spas and plenty more.
Away from the mainland, Madeira’s beachfront all-inclusive resorts take some beating, with many located just a few steps from the sand. Expect oceanfront bars, exclusive beach access and plenty of pools with incredible views across the Atlantic. The coast is equally eye-catching too, from the unspoiled shoreline of Porto Santo to the island’s black volcanic bays and imported golden sands.

Portugal’s mild climate, lengthy coastline and abundance of all-inclusive resorts make it an excellent choice for a family holiday. Whether your brood wants to lounge by the pool, explore the town, or tick off every kind of watersport, Portugal will serve up your dream trip.
For a helping of culture and coastline, take a trip to Lagos. Walk through Byzantine history, kayak through caves and rock formations, and take the family on a dolphin-spotting trip. After an action-packed day out, your all-inclusive resort’s spa, bars and kids’ club await.
Albufeira is hard to beat for a family break by the sea. Its all-inclusive resorts are brimming with aqua parks, watersports and ‘edutainment’ groups for the little ones. Meanwhile, rooftop bars, beach clubs and wellness centres should keep the grown-ups happy.
Funchal in Madeira is another top spot for a laid-back all-inclusive family holiday, with numerous oceanfront resorts making it very easy to stay put. Think spas, pool games, kids’ clubs, international restaurants and nightclubs. If you’d rather unleash your inner explorer, Funchal’s charming old town, tropical gardens, busy markets and cable car have you covered.
